time for brakes, are 03-06 brake rotors the same?

so it's time i replace my brake rotors and pads and i'm looking into some drilled rotors. i like the look of the drilled rotors on mercs, porsches, etc. i really wish i could afford the akebono or brembo swap but, after looking locally and hoping to find at a salvage yard for a fraction of the price, i'm gonna have to go ahead and replace the brakes with oem sized rotors. i drive an 05 and while shopping around online i see many of the rotors for 05's are for the g35x model and the others are for 03-04. i thought the 03-06 rotors were the same as long as they're not for the brembo brake system or the awd model. am i wrong or are some of the application lists wrong?

as i said, my car is an 05 auto and it's my daily driver. i don't really need a bigger brake kit but, i would like the look of the beefier brakes and calipers behind the wheels but, as i said i'm going to have to stick to the oem brakes. the drilled rotors should look and perform well enough for now. i just wanna make sure i get the right rotors so if anyone can shed some light on this i'd greatly appreciate it. also, if anyone can give me some sites to get rotors from please share. thank you.

Yo dawg it be best to do dem drillt rotas mayne. I got dem on my 8th gen, stops lika motha.

Bet it could bet yo g35. ALL PAID CASHA MOTHA

No point in getting drilled rotors, especially if you aren't on brembos. At the very most grab some slotted rotors and decent pads. Someone else will have to chime in, I'm unsure when the next gen got a brake upgrade.

wtf?

i've read the slotted rotors wear down the brake pads faster. dunno how true it is but, i do like the look of them.

You can get drilled rotors on tirerack.com and bigbrakeparts.net for reasonable prices.

Regarding what others have said; yes, slotted rotors can wear pads faster, but it also depends on the pads and how soft they are. Slots and drilled holes aren't really useful on the street. At really high temperatures, such as the track, drilled and slotted rotors let the pads vent gas and result in better braking. Drilled rotors are weaker than slotted or solid. Real performance cars actually use rotors with the holes molded into them, not drilled, since the drilling creates stress points for cracks to form.

I've had cross-drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic Hawk pads on my '03 6MT for years. i do some autocross and good country road driving, and have had no issues with premature wear or noise. I'm getting close to needing a new set, and will probably try hook slots.

Bought my set from Stillen.com.

^ You'd want to stick with rotors/pads for your specific model/year above.

Personal preference - for daily driving I'd get Centric premium or eline rotors in any flavor you'd want from slotted/drilled. Great bang for the buck.

Good sites online for brakes are R1Concepts, RockAuto, TireRack, & BrakePerformance. You should try PM'ing Driver vendors first or last once you have a general idea of price - support our vendors!
