need help getting off lugs - please help now

ok so i wasn't really too sure where to put this but here goes:

i'm in the process of replacing a headgasket from an 05 altima and started by unplugging the wiring harness and removing the manifolds and all and now i'm needing to get into the wheel well to remove the timing cover and all but the lug nuts on this car are a weird size. they replaced with some different kinda lugs when the tires were being replaced. these aren't aftermarket lugs that need a key. they look normal but, none of my sockets fit well enough to remove them, not to mention my 4 way lug wrench. i got out the lug wrench from the trunk of the car but, it was a different size of course. that's actually when i realized the lugs were different. anyway, i don't wanna damage the studs so i'm looking for a way to remove the lugs without hurting them. all i know is that the lugs are soft metal. i tried using the socket that fit best but it just slipped causing the corner to round alittle. i don't want them to do that because i know they're gonna be even harder to remove. any ideas? i'm thinking of removing them using a bolt out socket and just find new lugs because i think it's going to need new lugs anyway. i don't wanna put these back on there and them be a PITA to someone else. anyway, any other ideas are much appreciated.

Get a socket that barely fits and hammer it on. Then just take it out. Once you're done, go back to where ever you got these weird lugs and ask them to take it all off and put something normal on lol
