The 07 vintage for coupe and sedan
The 07 vintage for coupe and sedan
Pls bear with me. I'm looking at buying a nice used G35 and I'm trying to find the answer to the same old question. Coupe or sedan? But 07 is an interesting year for the sedan with the big time updates/facelift. And how that competes against the last year of the G35 coupe seems interesting to me. And in my area these two used cars are generally priced the same, depending on condition.
I'm not looking for anyone to tell me what to do. And I have searched the archives for a couple of hours using the advanced search and also checked the FAQ and have not really see the info I"m looking for. Also spent a few hours googling the subject and found minimal info.
I'm looking to hear about experiences regarding the characteristic differences between the two cars. More from a driving experience point of view. I understand the looks are different and there's no need to discuss that. Same for space as there will be a second 4 door car in our family so I can go either way. And I know the performance differences are going to be different (esp with variations in trim) and I don't think I'm going to care about that. I know I can get AWD with the sedan, but the coupe would be manageable with good winter grip (was out in one yesterday during a light snow dump and it was fine).
I will be test driving 06/07 coupes and 07 sedans so I'll certainly get some general impressions. But as much test driving as I can possibly do, which will be hopefully in the hours not mins total time range, it's going to be a decision I make with minimal time at the wheel. So if anyone has any pointers on how the two cars differ from a driving experience I would love to hear it all. That way I'll go in to the upcoming test drives with some knowledge ahead of time and that will hopefully help me get as much as I can out of the drives.
And as mentioned at the top, this isn't just coupe or sedan. It's the 07 vintage of sedan with its upgrades versus the previous gen coupe.

I say get the one that fits you, your family and your lifestyle.
The 2nd gen G's have a far superior interior than the 1st gen. If snow is an issue, I'd love to have AWD.

Def will be buying the car based on what fits me. But still curious about the cars I'm considering. Putting this another way, I'll ask this: Is the 07 sedan more car for the money than an 07 coupe. Putting aside the looks, space etc. Does the 4 door have better driving technology in it (e.g. more welds, better traction control, better engine, better transmission (AT) than the same year, same cost, coupe? And if so, I'll keep that in mind during my test drives and how I feel in both cars.
