Paint looks like bad. What should I do?

So yeah.. My paint doesn't look to good. Everywhere has swirl marks. I have quite a few scratches and overall, my car isn't as shiny as I would like it to be. What action should be taken. I know you can wet sand and buff. I don't really know what wet sanding does and I don't know how much that costs. Another option is a completely new paint job. That would obviously give the best results right? But that is like 3 grand.. So what do you guys suggest I do?

Get in contact with a reputable dealer in your area and have them assess the paints condition and give you a quote. Expect to pay $5-800 if you want a scratch/swirl free finish

You should contact rmyc he is a jdm expert plus, master in car detailing. According to him it takes 3 days to do paint correction

Just kidding bro..But my advice before you decided to paint the car, you may wanna take it to one of those professional detailing shop perhaps they can help.

Personally, I wouldn't get your car repainted. Chances are that all of the swirls/oxidation can be removed yourself with a random orbital buffer, rubbing/cutting compound and some polish at a much cheaper price.

^ Worst advice evar (in case OP takes it seriously). Find a reputable detailer or read up in the Detailing section and learn to do it yourself.

This process works best on dark colored cars. The folks at the Senior Living Facility are always impressed at how shiny my car is ; )
WTF ...do NOT do this.

In some cases paint correction can in fact take 2-3 full 8 hour days of compounding and polishing. I spent 18 hours on a Bentley Continental Flying Spur to get the paint near flawless.

You can always try a wash, clay bar and then polish.
It takes a few hours and some elbow grease but it doesn't cost u much.
Mother's has a claybar kit that works pretty well and is easy to use.
If that doesn't rejuvinate the paint then you can take it to a prof detailer.

Is polishing the same as buffing?

Yeah pretty much. If you buy all the materials and do it yourself.. it's actually cheaper than having your car professionally detailed most of the time, but it's ALOT of hard work though. Expect to spend like a full day or so if you want to get everything perfect.
