Muffler delete

Ok so kinda searched around on here and didn't find a whole lot on this but it was just a quick look. Ive got an 05', dg, 6mt that ive only had for a month. Windows are getting tinted this week and my next mod besides the ztube is exhaust. Now im in college so that explains my financial state but i want a little more volume out of my exhaust. Ive looked at NUMEROUS you-tube videos of the muffler delete and im thinking about going that way because i cant afford the ARK GRIP exhaust i really want $$$$. I wanted some opinions on the muffler delete and if some of you all have done this what do u think of it. I want to keep my stock tips and look but a little more sound,

PS. if theres any G's around the Columbia, MO hmu. I see a few here and there but was wondering if any were on here too.

i drove around with my mufflers off for a few weeks, and its loud and raspy but if thats what you're into then why not. i mean, if you dont like it, just put 'em back on. it only takes a few minutes. my recommendation would be to just buy test pipes and get those installed. you'll be satisfied with that and you'll be able to keep your stock tips.

i had a 350 with custom exhaust like you are talking about. Its the stock piping, with the stock resonator, ran up to the stock tips, basically just bypassing the big *** muffler under the trunk area. After selling my Z, i kept this exhaust, bought a G and installed it using the topspeed1 extension pipe.

It sounds Awesome!! and for under $100 at an exhaust shop, you CANNOT beat it.

on the z i had test pipes, on the g i have stock cats...

YES! This is exactly what i was looking for. I want to get rid of like you said that big *** muffler under the trunk, and just run some piping to my stock tip to connect it all. Was it a huge change in sound when you did this to your G? The links did not work for me. Thank you! I just want a little better sound without spending a fortune.

Great Vids that 350 sounds sick! Any chance of you uploading videos of your G without the test pipes? if not thats cool but answer me this. Is it quieter without test pipes? Im not to familiar with them so forgive my dumb questions.

nah man not dumb questions. its not really any quieter w/o them, its a deeper tone.

the test pipes (at a certain rpm) had a rasp that i hated. without them, on the g, i have no rasp (that i can hear inside the cabin)

so all in all dude... DO IT!

ill see about some video once i get off work, but the cel phone video wont do it any justice.

Thanks alot. Im doing 1 thing at a time since im on a tight budget, so next week i have an appointment to get windows tinted, then exhaust is after that. Do you have an intake on your G? Im thinking of just doing the ztube and heard that might give me a little more throaty sound which is fine by me

no sir, not yet. i did on the z and didnt make that huge of a difference really... it does look alot better than the factory airbox. so i would just weigh out your options, and figure what you get performance or sound wise, versus money spent..

Most of the time it's not a good idea to make decisions like this when you're on a tight budget. Muffler delete will just be loud with little or no gains....Gary

I did a muffler delete on my G.
It is loud and raspy, but that's the sound I like.

The only thing I don't like about it, is its way too loud on a cold start, I mean it kind of hurts my ears lol. But that only last a couple minutes until the engine warms up so you learn to live with it.

Also, make sure you leave the resonator on. Without it it sounds like some Nascar vehicle LOL. You would definetly get pulled over every time.

I can probably make a video of my '03 6MT with muffler delete if you want?

Ya a video would be great if its not to much trouble! And you only removed muffler right? Thats all im thinking of doing cuz like you said i dont need to sound like a nascar or anything.
