Buying a 2006
Hey guys,
I've been around for a while and finally have the means to buy the car that I want. I'm looking at a 2006 G35 with ~50k miles for about 20k. I have very specific standards and this one fits them. However, the car is 3 hours away and for sale by a private party, so I have a couple questions. Ideally, I'd like to inspect/buy in one trip but will make two if necessary. What's the best way to go about this?
-What form of payment is best? I will be buying it outright. I heard cashier's check mentioned.
-How would an inspection work? Do I have the owner perform it before I get up there? During? After? How long does this take? I know it costs around 100-200.
-Anything else I should know or prepare for?
Thanks!
I know this is the wrong section, I just need some quick answers. Thanks!

I would definitely ask around that area for good inspection place or to the dealer in that area & get him to have the car inspected before you go there. Last thing you wanna do book a flight & hotel to drive a car with a jerky transmission
Auto or 6MT? If MT it might have the oil consumption issue. Make sure you get a report from Infiniti that this issue was fixed. It's a rwd car, so check rear tires lol

A cashier's check will work, thats what I used. Are you having a dealership perform the inspection? You should be present for that and if its going to cost money I would have both parties pay 50/50 for it.

Thanks man. Nissan dealer probably. I'll definitely be present and thanks for the 50/50 tip, didn't think of that.
Cashiers check is the best way of payment for both parties. Since they have a Nissan dealership where car is located, that works. Plan ahead, make sure the seller makes an appointment at Nissan since time if a factor and you only want to make this trip once. Buying from a private party you should have access to service records, that's a plus. If you can get the vin number, run a CARFAX....never hurts to know what you're buying!
