Cant find the fuel gague problem DIY writeup

Hey everyone, sorry for being a noob. I saw the writeup the other day, and I forgot to bookmark it. Now I'm ready to do the damn thing, and the search only brings up old threads. Help please?

Also, I'm loving my 03 5AT sedan so far. Can't wait to get into the mods.

EDIT: Just to clarify, it's the one about cleaning some part of some stuff with a q-tip.

Just so you know in advance, the only current solution for the gas gauge rapidly dropping to E is leaving the shifter in P.

Sorry I can't help with the other DIY

I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about. The problem I'm having is that the needle doesn't go all the way to full when I fill up. I saw a writeup with pictures on how to fix it by cleaning something with a q-tip just a couple days ago. I know it's here somewhere.

Probably just your imagination. It goes to full and then drops as soon as you THINK about driving it.

For those of you who actually have this problem and don't find me funny AT ALL... then I submit this instead.

Easy!
1. Lift up your rear seat and pull it upward to release the latches. The back seat should come right out.
2. remove the seat out from the car
3. there are two caps, remove the passenger side cap, 4 black tabs you need to turn. Use a screw driver. "x" type screw driver
4. Disconnect wires.
5. Disconnect fuel line (be careful it'll spray some fuel that is pressured in the line!!!). Dont worry it's not much. It will stop quickly. Use a rag to cover while disconnecting so the fuel does not get in you face. (EDIT IN: Or just take off the gas cap- I hear that works)
6. Use rag to clean up excess fuel spillage.
7. Then take out all six screws and put them some where safe!
8. Lift the whole fuel thing out, it might take some skills to help maneuver the unit out...
9. Clean the fuel level sensor with a q tip... (use a few of them)
(The fuel level sensor should be next to the floating assembly arm, you should be able to tell. It looks like a graph type thing. Haha.)
10. After this, reverse the steps and you should be good to go. Hope this helps"

YEAH, that's the one! Except I saw a sticky thread (or maybe it just said, "official") somewhere around here with pictures. This is driving me crazy.

To be honest man- I'm the biggest car retard there is on this whole site and when I had some gasket issues I had to pull my fuel pump- and I was able to do it with minimal monkeying around.

Biggest issue I had was getting the gasket to stay lined up and not get pinched (technically it says you're supposed to get a new one each time in the FSM) and also the fuel pump housing retaining fuel- so you DO need to have something there to catch it or be prepared to have it spilled out.

Those last photos are from the FSM available in the tech DIY section I think- Download the whole thing... this one is for a 06 coupe but I'm not sure it would be MUCH different. This is as much to show what's available. On mine, I'm showing Fuel level sensor is in EC volume page 476 478 and 480.

That's generally what you're going to see... I have one slight modification in there- but nothing special. The fuel assembly will kind of float so just be prepared for that. Then the floating arm will get in the way a bit but with the slightest of patience you won't have any trouble.

Sorry for blowing up the forum. And now I don't know how to delete all of these posts. Hmph. Thanks for the advice, man. Much appreciated.

There was a burst there where nothing was loading. I had a bunch of multiples too. Just go in to edit and then choose the delete feature. I think it should still be there.
