so my friend got his hks exhaust installed 2 weeks ago he asked the shop every question he could and the shop said it wouldnt melt his diffuser they install everything correctly now his diffuser is melted pretty bad !!! Where going take it to the shop tomorrow yall think they should replace it or give some cash or credit back??

 

If its their fault then sure. If its a known problem with HKS exhaust then no.

I haven't heard of the HKS (or any exhaust really) melting diffusers unless it's touching or is tucked in too much.

 

i think th installer didnt install the tips correctly looked like it ways almost touching but the shop say'd it should be fine now the diffuser melted some and some is stuck to the tips

 

The diffuser wouldn't have been damaged if the tips weren't touching so the issue is with the installer, it's his job to check those kinda clearance issues. I can barely get a rag between my tips and Nismo diffuser and it's perfect....Gary

 

when i had my rsx and my hks hi power exhaust, it was a known fact that hks melts our rear bumpers unless you installed an extended hanger not sure if its true for g35s (doesnt seem like it)

Pics. If there is a diffuser added on, there is a chance that the diffuser is installed incorrectly. There aren't too many ways to mount an exhaust, the brackets and mounts only offer one option.

It probably melted during the immense speeds he achieved.

Those diffusers are super useful.

 

post pics, iv seen some tucked exhaust with rear diffusers and there are no issues with melting

shouldn't have melted if the exhaust was installed correctly and hangers bent if need be, and if the diffuser was mounted as high as possible and tightened correctly. my x02 and diffuser are very close yet haven't melted in years of driving.

 

the diffuser is stock and we already went to the shop today and he gave me a cf diffuser and is going to fix the tips and do the install on the diffuser

 

Nice so it was an install mistake. Glad they owned up to it
