Who has been battling the winter with summer tires?

I didn't want to give up my Michelin tires Pilot Super Sports on my 6mt Sedan, Im really happy with how they have done so far in the cold/winter. Not sure if the as long as these tires can get down to some pavement they do great. Anyone running Falken 452's in snow?

I've gone down some scary hills sideways with summer tires in winter snow...don't do it to yourself.

I have and its been pretty terrible. Almost zero grip when I touch snow or even on cold rainy nights I spin my tires at almost all starts with low throttle.

I did for a couple weeks. Said f8ck it and threw some Blizzaks on the rear. Now it has NO problem with snow and ice.

I never understood doing things like this. A single mistake in winter or hell, even a puddle of standing water on the highway in slushy conditions might spin you off. Its your safety and your car, both will cost you more than a set of winter tires.

Don't forget, if you drive 5000 miles over winter, that's 5000 miles not on your expensive summer tires.

I have summer tires in the winter, but it doesn't get cold or snow here in atlanta, and my G is my "weekend car" as well so it's not a big deal. If I lived north I'd definitely have a set of winter tires though.

I got caught in a storm in last year. I took the car out in the day, it was 50 degrees and sunny, dumped about 1.5 feet. I only drove the car at 20mph, and I still spun out and almost went off the road. I do not reccomend summer tires on this car in the winter. It does not handle it well at all.

I have always run dedicated winter setups until last year and the G has been as reliable as my brothers wrx in the right shoes. Last year I left my summer setup on due mostly to laziness ....never again...it only snowed a dozen times or so, but that resulted in a dozen times it stayed overnight at work.

I ran 452s for few days. It was terrible. I would highly recommend a set of blizzaks.

I have two sets as well.
18' for the winters Alpines PA3
19' for the summer Ventus v12

Living in NY it's a must plus no salt on my 19's

the cheapest/worst winter tires are better than the best all season/summer tires in the snow/icy conditions
