fourm members inspecting g35s for you in there area
Whats up everyone ive been lurking on the corvette fourms lately since I totaled my g35 and im now in the market for a c5..well I ran across an interesting sticky thread they have,it was a thread with fourm members and the area they live in who vulenteerly will go inspect the corvette for you and make sure its not a scam and have you wasting your time traveling to another state for a car thats a peice of **** and was advertised to you as a *like new car* from the seller..the person thats inspecting it for you dosnt have to be a mechanic or anything like that and all he has to do is make sure the car is there and probably snap a few pictures for you before you make the long drive out to another state..I remeber when I was looking for my g35 I traveled damn near 500 miles and when I got there the car was all tore up with dents and paint chips every where that the seller did not disclose..he even sent pictures of what looked like what the car actually looked like the day he brought it which where 2-3 year old pics..only memebers whos on the list can be contacted and asked if they are willing to go inspect the car for you and they have every right to deny to if they don't feel like it or dont have the time to go do it..I think its pretty cool and will save alot of people time and money because I know alot of people useally have to travel to find a good deal on certain cars like the g35 and corvettes..
heres the thread on the corvette fourm im talking about and ill be down to be added on the list and if I have the time to go check it out I will..

You don't have an excuse.
At any rate, I wouldn't trust anyone here to inspect a car (unless they are a mechanic). Get a mechanic to do it who has no bias either way. Signing up for a list like that is a liability.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Swype is your friend, doesn't take long at all to get really proficient with it. I hated texting and refused to use it until Swype came along...............

You dont have to be a mechanic to go make sure the car is where its suppose to be and take a few pictures of it to send to the buyer. Once the buyer gets to the other state its up to him/her if she wants to bring it to the mechanic to get it inspected it buy a real mechanic while they're up there.
If I would of knew and the seller was honest with me about about how the car I traveled 500 miles to go see needed a new 3-$4000 paint job and new leather upholstery, I would of never wasted my time and money going up there.

yup, there are actually members that aren't douchebags and are willing to help you and give you an opinion in a respectful manner while acting like decent human beings interacting with other human beings.
In theory it seems like a decent idea. I guess it just really boils down to how much you trust the other person inspecting your potential new buy. People have a vastly different idea of what defines "nice, good condition, worm out, immaculate, etc" and Its tough. It also has the potential to create a lot of unneeded animosity on the forum. For instance, I myself am a college ejamucated auto tech and fully ASE certified. If someone asked me to go look at a car for them I would be more than happy. I could give them a fair idea of what condition the car really is, but apart from scratching the surface with a general inspection theres nothing much more I could do. SO if I tell someone its a nice car that runs well they might just buy it. Then 2 weeks down the road for SOME reason the engine/trans/clutch goes out or something along those lines. Odds are the buyer would come to me complaining about how the "Auto tech who is supposed to know everything and have xray vision to see inside the engine/trans", didnt know what he was talking about and let me buy a **** car.
These things get warped this way and I think it would create more problems than its worth. Just my .02

I could definitely see some value if there were a set format to the "inspection." A checklist covering the items guys are expected to be able to report back. Even just checking that that car exists is a start- checking overall exterior condition. Verifying miles, interior condition (smell is a big one). Tire wear, windshield, under the hood for a standard rub and tug of belts and hoses... Not so much to sign off on a waiver or anything- more just to remind the person (freqently not a mechanic) doing The inspection which points to hit or photograph.
It might be a good way to stimulate some activity within the network as well- where you may get a couple guys who just take a cruise over to check the car out- who knows... But one thing is for certain, if someone doesn't just pull the trigger on it absolutely no good can come from it.
Worth a shot- who's going to take it?

Oh yea I remember I figured you brought it..was it a couple days after you pm"ed me?I remember passing 2 days after you messaged me and I didn't see it out there so I figured you brought it or they moved it to another side..What was all wrong with it?I never really got close to it to actually see all the imperfections..I saw it a couple times coming of the bridge on my way home.
