Your G and your future!

Heyyy everyone!

It's been quite a while since I've been around here, I hope there are still some old timers still here =P

I'm gonna be earning some big boy monies soon and although I absolutely still love my car to death (especially after the time, work, and money I've put into her) I have been thinking about moving on and... "Upgrading." A brand new M3 will be in my driveway in the near future and I don't know if I should keep the G and finish it slowly over the next few years as my project car (I had so much planned for it ) or if I should sell it, save my money and put it into the M3.

Regardless, my G35 will hold a special place in my heart because it was my first ever "real" car that I saved many, many years for and it's what started my interest in modding and just becoming a real gearhead/greasemonkey/whathaveyou.

So, to kick off a discussion, where do you see yourself and your G in the future?

Keep it and have a new M3. You can grow with your G in the years to come, it will always be a project.

Yeah I'm more leaning toward keeping the G... Keep building it up and who knows maybe pass it down to the kids one day =P

What about you? I have always been a fan of your car.. One of the best looking black ones around!

Keeping it. I am collecting my cars and keeping them as I purchase them. Going to be building a Garage with a house attached on a piece of land once I get my transfer.

I have been considering selling my G for something else for a while now. I am bored with it. However while I make decent money, it is not the time in my life where I can buy something awesome. I would love an M3 but I can't afford one newer than the G. I have decided to do some more maintenance and upkeep and get it back to like new condition, probably some different wheels with good fitment (no spacers needed) but not Volk or Work as I can't afford anything that nice. In a few years I will be beyond financially stable and I will do something awesome.

As you sound like you are at that point now, keep it if you can. No reason to sell it. Besides if you are getting a new M3, wait for that warranty to run out before modifying it too much. You will likely need it at some point.

Say homie what's up??

Keep the G I say if you can financially. Even though it's just a hunk of metal to some, since it holds a special place in your heart it will always be the "first" if you know what I mean. My first real car was a '72 Cutlass 442 and there's not a day that goes by that I don't wish I still had her. Never in the time I owned it was everything working perfectly but I didn't care. That car was the shizz and I still miss it.

To answer the question of where do I see my car in the future, I said when I bought it that I would drive it until she hit 200K miles or until she died on me and I still plan to. Currently at 116K and she runs and looks new so I have no reason to dump her. I could afford a lot of different cars now, but have formed a special bond with my G and have no desire to have another DD even after 4 years.

Don't be a stranger on here OK?

Yeah I saw your post about 6k to ship it back... not sure if it's worth that man.

As for me- sort of emotionally invested in the G as much as I'm learning to hate it I love it at the same time. Little gold digging **** doesn't do anything but dig in my pockets for trinkets- but when she puts out... man. Crazy.

The GF has been eyeing up the newer Audi TT hardtop... but that's in the distant future if at all.

I plan to keep my 06 coupe which I now have 106k showing on the odometer. I have owned it for 6 years now and I still love it. I'm done modding for now and will just do regular maintenance on it for the time being. I do plan to redo my wheels, repaint the car, and replace some interior pieces as well. In my opinion the body lines still look great compared to a lot of newer cars.

i cant tell you what to do with your car. but i personally kept my G and picked up a used C5 corvette for cheap. I DD my G and have a fun Sunday car. Cheaper than an M3 and about the same performance albeit is a 10 year old car now, but all personal preference.

Keep it. My buddies M3 breaks down quite often. Great car though. It's the only BMW I would own. I have to have a car to tinker and fiddle wit, and German cars are so hard to do anything to. The g is easy, and there are thousands of parts out there.

Dump it. Once you have a real car, you desire for the G will quickly fade.
