I don't think that that's the reason. RX-8s are slower on a track than G35s and theres tons of "race car parts" for them. I think it's just that Gs are too similar to Zs except heavier so tuners who are just looking to go fast are going to choose the Z, so none of them design aero for the G.

True but they are proof that your car can be a slow POS, and someone will still try to make aero parts for it.

The G is too heavy to be a great track car as is. It's not an elephant by far, but it isn't as light and nimble as even the Z, which is just a lighter version of the G with a stiffer chassis.

The RX8 was a joke in terms of power output, but it handled pretty well, or at least was touted to handle well.

Well if you really wanted a track car it really isn't that hard to cut the weight, just start pulling out all the little luxuries that they put in it, but from the factory the Z comes without all those things so its already halfway there. Thus people just start out with the Z and the G gets no love from the tuners.

JDM parts are no joke. They are always pricey but have much better quality. Even the cheaper fiberglass parts are much better quality than what you would expect from anything made of fiberglass.

And while I agree with function > form, you don't need these extra aero parts even for a track - they usually just add more weight,

aero is freaking awesome at the track.

I don't know what you guys are smoking, the rx-8 is awesome at the tracks, especially technical ones. It's not always purely about track times, especially at the amateur level. So many people have a hard-on and drool over the ft-s/brz/ft86, when it is similar to the rx-8. fun to drive, great to learn on, but underpowered for decent track times.

The g35 is a decent track car, maybe not as good as the 350z, but stock they are pretty similar. Probably true though, that there is little market for g35 parts because anyone who really would want it got the 350z.

this is very true.. the G35 is based off the same frame design as the 300ZX 2+2 where as the 350 is based off the 2 seat 300ZX.

both boast the same frame style just the older 300ZX 2+2 & G35 have a slightly longer wheelbase.

suspension on the g35 is a little softer to compliment the luxury focus of the G versus the Z which is part of why it feels a little less nimble in corners, but that aside the longer wheel base would typically get you slightly better handling. with identical suspension setups as a 350.

Weight issues are the biggest impact on the G if you ask me is it's 4200+ pound curb weight... It is no joke & you definitely feel it roll in hard corners... add the over/ understeer from softer suspension... you have a sevriceable track car that needs more work to be what the 350 is off the showroom floor. OFC you have to remember the G is a luxury focus over the sporty focus of the Z

werd...

it honestly feels faster than it really is... and that isn't saying much.

I drove a autotragic G37 base sedan last weekend while I was getting a recall issue fiixed and that was way quicker 0-60... but lacked the torquey feel of my 6MT coupe...
