wait a minute, what if the car stalls or the electrical system goes out on the road.... you just gonna have no ability to steer the car???

A mechanical backup kicks in if a failure is detected. I believe the Q50 is one of the first out there doing pure drive by wire. Nice to see Nissan innovating. This is a controversial deal but I believe the design benefits will eventually lead to seeing this on every car.
