Anyone drive a Prius?
I was at a cruise in recently and parked next to a '65 vette conv which looked better than new.
After talking to vette owner he had 6 other '60's era Vettes including a '67 427 coupe. His wife drove a 2013 vette and he just ordered a 2015 ZO6 convertible.
I asked what his daily driver was his answer a PRIUS. He commutes about 120 mi round trip daily and was a sensible option for economical reasons. He owns a window manufactuirng company.

That's a proper way of driving a G.
I get 21 smiles per gallon and my millage is about the same.
I'd probably avoid Prius or any other hybrid simply for the lack of exhaust note. I would consider Tesla S P85D though simply cuz it's stupid fast.
The Tesla's are really the first "eco-friendly" car that come on the market that has peaked my interest. For a while, I was interested in the M37 hybrid, but the cost just put that dream to bed for me. It didn't really seem that economical anyway, just a cool novelty hybrid (ie a performance vehicle with a couple electric motors added in).
The true "commuting" hybrids and electric vehicles are just boring. I'm referring to Insight, leaf, volt. pruis, hybrid altimas, camrys, etc. They just don't really seem exciting to drive. I understand the practical aspect of these vehicles, but my commute is 60 miles per day, with almost 3 hours in a car. If i am going to spend so much time of my life inside a vehicle, I want to be in one I truely enjoy. A prius just doesn't do it for me. I'd be miserable.

it was a ~$30k car on paper, but when you drive it, it feels like a $17k corolla....
yes, the gas mileage is amazing.. she did commute about 100 miles a day, so savings were substantial from her BMW(~22mpg vs ~45+ mpg).. i can get it up to 55mpg no problem
yes, the design is pretty decent.
yes, you don't feel as "poor" as driving a civic/corolla.
the car is SLOW.. it's feels slower than a civic/corolla..
the reason why most Prius drivers drive like a$$hats is because they are in ECO mode.. i think it cuts throttle by 40% or something.. I advised my sister never to use this.. not worth the 3mpg difference while getting flicked off left and right.
This is our second hybrid. We have a Lexus SUV hybrid, too. Now that one makes sense. Only gets about 24mpg combined (compared to maybe ~19mpg of gas only) but the torque from electric motors make driving it more exciting...
she kinda regrets it.. told her to buy a new mazda3 or a civic.
Family wants a diesel next.. maybe a bmw 328d

Deisel is how i'd go if i really cared about fuel economy.
Guy at work has one and brags about his 50-60MPG he gets in his TDI Jetta. Kinda a nice car too. I'm hesitant because: I do my own maintainence and haven't worked on deisels much, and FWD = fail.

OP Get a diesel car instead. I was looking at VW jetta TDI's since they get like 40mpg+, and used ones are around $4k now.
The way I see it, the savings is in gas purchase. Its a double whammy with the G's because it gets low mpg's and you have to use Premium gas.

I get having a different car to drive to help reduce miles on your G. But when people talk about buying another car to save $ on gas I scratch my head & wonder if you did any math to figure out how many years it would take before the 6k + insurance, licensing and maintenance costs paid off in actual savings.

^ To be honest this thought popped in my head the other day for having a Mini Cooper for a daily... I know I could have fun in it and enjoy it and it'd be Wayyyy better than a damn Prius.. Ha ha.
That's exactly my point. It seems to be the only car that is a small piece of **** that gets decent mileage that can also be fun. I owned a first gen insight, and it was incredible as far as MPG, but sooooo slow and boring. My gf has a smart for two that is geared pretty aggressively, so it picks up OK, and gets great mileage, but its goofy as fukc (not to mention it has the weirdest transmission lag you've ever experienced). The MC seems to be the only decent median.
