Sad but true
Infiniti doesn't care about who buys their cars 10 years down the road. They cater to middle-aged business professionals and families selling them $40K+ cars.
Back when these cars were brand new, nobody thought twice about modding them with parts bought off ebay from china. The forums were a different place than now.
This article is a bunch of BS. Yes, their are poorly modded G's but, their are also poorly modded Ferraris, Lamboghini's, and many other exotics. What makes us think the G would be any different. This has been going on since modding began and, as long as their are cars on the road and people with poor taste, it will continue to happen.
What you envision and what someone else envisions is two different things. And, although the G is a good performer right out of the box. It could use some improvements. Also, what do you expect when so many aftermarket companies make so many tasteless products.

Tasteless? They sell damn well!
You and I may not like it but people buy it.
I don't like that they sell XL size Yoga pants... But they sell damn well
.
I saw a yellow G with a billet grill, messed up GTR bumper with CS rear with 1" gap at the rear fender yesterday on the highway... So yeah, easy to buy cheap mods nowadays.

Any model car that performs well out of the box is going to be subject to the rice treatment over its lifetime. The G35 platform is still great today. I am looking into getting a newer car soon and looking for the same thing. RWD, heated leather seats, manual trans, decent horsepower/torque. The options are still very limited.

Seriously...its bad. I find myself either looking into either a bmw or something front wheel drive. I swore to myself i would never buy another front wheel drive vehicle after I got the G35.

On the top of my list is the 2008+ M3 or 2013+ Mustang GT
This makes no sense.

they werent born middle aged...
and im sorry to tell you on your history exam you just took and failed. but modding vehicles is the ONLY reason we have any sort of racing ANYTHING today in america. people bought brand new vehicles and modded them to be faster than factory police cars to run booze during prohibition. in their spare time they would race each other, crowds started growing and it became a staple.
race by day, booze by night. all in modified vehicles.
and trust me, im sure back in the 1920s when a couple of guys got together to talk about what mods they do. im betting there was a dunce driving down the road with flames painted on the side of his car that didnt run booze, and everyone in the car scene made fun of him too.
so i dont know why you think no one has ever thought about modding a vehicle before a ****ing g35, but people started modding vehicles almost 100 years ago
