purchasing a G35 for $250
So a kid in my neighborhood has a stock 2003 G35 5AT for sale for part out i offered him $250 for the car and ill take it off his hands. it has a blow head gasket and a blown transmission according to him and his mechanic. I could make a fancy few bucks parting it out but I always wanted to mod out a G35.
my question is:
Is it worth fixing the transmission or should i swap it to a 6mt or to a different 5at?
far as rebuilding the engine after changing the head gasket and sparks i should be fine right?
the car is in very good condition other than this even has a aftermarket radio.
trying to get some guidance and answers let me know.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Rebuilding a motor encompasses way more that changing a head gasket and spark plugs. If you have the money, time and patience to do it yourself you're looking at a significant cash outlay. If you're having a mechanic or shop do it for you it's going to probably cost as much as the car's worth or more.. And I haven't even brought up the trans yet.
And as mentioned above give the dude a fair price unless he just doesn't give a sh**. It's the right thing to do.

If he agrees to that that's on him. Maybe he just doesnt want to deal with it anymore.
If he agrees to it it might also mean you're in for the nightmare these cars can be.
Rebuilding a DE to factory specs is a waste of time being that these engines can be found for at least $500
You're looking at least $1500 without labor to fix this car and the rest can ad up quickly.
It's not a fast car, somewhat reliable until the next thing breaks, new engine will possibly consume oil.
interior is ****, suspension parts can be expensive.
I would not do it personally however if you created forum profile already it means you could have possibly fallen for the car, they tend to do that.

At least up here.... there is so many used engines and transmissions for this car, they can be found for $600 each and put them in yourself. Would it be a car that last more than 5years: Probably not, but maybe does not matter?
