Someone parked super close to my car what do to?

So where I live people are extremely thirsty when it comes to parking especially during after work hours around 3-5pm.Today I parked my car in a spot and left no room in the front of me so a car could fit back of me.Now on my way back to my car I noticed a shitty old Sentra decided it was a good idea to park to my bumper and left a mark.I didn’t take pictures of the damage yet but he did left a good key etch type scratch around my front bumper around my license plates. The question is now what do I do about it? Do I leave a note?? Police report?? I wouldn’t mind if it’s a little scuff but this guy left a scratch the size of a female hair and scratched some of the paint off.
Edit: I just painted the front bumper like 2 weeks ago
edit again:I heard if you bump an automatic car it could possibly ruin the transmission but could it also damage a manual transmission? I left the car in gear when I parked

Bumping a vehicle engaged in park won't hurt it but PUSHING one so the tires drag will usually result in a broken parking pawl inside the transmission.

In this case the best bet is to take good pictures of the damage, notify the police non-emergency so they can also some out and attempt to notify the owner of the vehicle, then contact your insurance.

Even if it’s a 6mt? I had the e brake up and I left it in 1st gear. I honestly lost hope on police because they still haven’t solved my Daily driver Camry issue when it was hit.I just feel like leaving him a note that I’m going to make a police report if he doesn’t take responsibility for his damage.

Ohhh 6MT will be fine. The only reason for the police to show up is they can determine FAULT and give you a CASE NUMBER to give to your insurance. They could also possibly charge the driver with hit&run if the damage was substantial enough to prove they KNEW they hit you.

I was told by the police that there’s no way to prove the guy had hit me without having pictures before the damage.I don’t take pictures of my bumper 24/7 and I just got it painted so there’s no way it’s been there.Im frustrated at this point and I guess I have to suck it up and pay for the damage myself unless I see the guy in person when I get in my car tomorrow. The guy lives in my neighborhood so I could catch him easily

He'll deny it. Just move on....

I have to ask, what was the police's reaction when you told them some guy scratched your bumper and you wanted them to help ?

Ichi you're the most paranoid member on here I think but I'm sorry you have to deal with this shizz. What an inconsiderate azzhole, I'd want to punch him in the face but of course that doesn't solve anything. And to all of you who cover their license plate in pictures on here crack me up. Thousands of people see your license plate in person so I ask you all, what's the point?

Haha I think the same about the license plate when I see people covering it up in their photos.

It's like taking a selfie but covering up your face.

It's a little on the paranoid side, but I get it. A lot can be found out by searching a license plate and there's services that allow you to do so. If you have expensive wheels and have modded your car, someone with motive can find your address pretty easily

I understand that mindset but again, thousands of people see the plate on the car while it's on the road so why bother hiding it on the forums?
