06 Infiniti G 35 sedan alternator problems

Hello, I was wondering if anybody’s had the same kind of problem or could tell me what my problem is in the last two years I have replaced 4 to 5 alternators on my Infiniti G 35 the most recent one that I’ve put on is not even that old it’s only 40 miles or less on the alternator and I keep on have to replace them and it’s getting annoying if anybody can help me out I’d really appreciate it

Maybe measure the current that it's putting out when the car is running. If you're constantly putting out some huge current, you're going to overheat something in the regulator and maybe that leads to failure. Are you sure the alternators are bad and not the alternator harness or something being intermittent? If supply for the regulator that comes from the battery is bad at the fusible link block or at the alternator connector like a flaky connection, you could have the thing stop charging but the alternator not be bad. You've got to make some measurements to figure out what's going on or it'll probably keep happening. Maybe get an oem new or reman instead of cheap parts store remans? Good luck. I had an intermittent alternator in another Nissan vehicle and it was a nightmare figuring it out.

It’s a brand new alternator, and yes, every alternator has failed. I have taken them completely out and got them tested.

Have your battery checked. Place it on a charger and see if it fully charges. It could be that the battery may have shorted cells, overloading the alternator in trying to charge it. Just a thought.

Even if all of them were new, it is still possible that your luck sucks and you got four duds. I was recently chasing a similar issue, so I bought two new (not reman) no-name alternators in a row with no luck. Finally I decided to bite the bullet and spend a little more on a custom built 200A unit (I went with Singer Alternators - no affiliation but highly recommended!). It has been smooth sailing ever since.

I agree, buying those cheapo alternators can bite you in your a$$ hard and with those, it's a hit or miss deal..
Before you replace it with another one, do your part and disconnect the battery, get a DVOM meter and do a ground/resistance test on your alternator to battery to IPDM cable and also check it for cracks and/or corrosion. A pinhole in a harness will allow water to eat and corrode the copper fast and create more resistance.
