Checking oil level
Ok, so is it just me, or is it d@mn near impossible to properly check the oil level. There are like 5 bends in the dipstick. The oil gets on every bend and drips down over the indicator. I have no idea what level my oil is at. Plus, putting the stick back in the hole isnt a trivial task either.
Is there a way anyone has figured out to get an accurate reading from their dipstick? I have had the car for 7k miles, and have taken it to the dealer for the first change at 3750 as specified. But haven't added a drop since then. I can't tell if it is overfilled, low, empty or just right.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

No no, I am not asking when the proper time is to check the oil. I am asking, How do you check the level of the oil when oil seems to get all over the dip stick when pulling it out of the engine. Most dipsticks will only have oil starting at the bottom of the stick and come up from there. This dipstick seems to have oil all over it, so it is impossible to get an accurate reading. If any normal person checked the oil, it would like like it was 15 quarts OVERFILLED.
I am asking, if there is a method to pulling out the dipstick to where the oil is ONLY on the empty/full area.

It will give time for the oil to settle and not be along the sides of the dipstick path.
I takes me 15 min alone to put that darn thing back in...the person who designed that should really be shot.

It's a fiddly affair at best and a lousy design, but stick with it (pun intended) and you'll soon get used to its peculiarities.

+1, no make that +1000. The designer/engineer responsible for that must have been really mad at the world! Either that or he's a dumb A_s

umm.. remember which side the dipstick is facing when you pull it out.. then stick it back the same way O.o
if you wana check oil level it helps to pull it out while keeping it as straight as possible then use the glare of the sun or a light to check it

That way you only have to pull it one time; No wiping
