Brakes are going to be prematurely worn down yes. Be careful to not hit or stay on the rev limiter too long or too often. Rev limiter = fuel cut = detonation. Especially with trubo applications. I know, cuz this happened to me along with no tune.

Actually, I was told just the opposite by an Infiniti tech...the throttle body is closed during rev being exceeded and you richen up...still not good for plugs and injectors, though.

If you want to do standing burnouts, you need to get a line-lock for your brakes so it only applies the fronts and doesn't burn up your rear brakes.

I don't know about the G, but burnouts wore out out the rear brakes on my supercharged F-150 pretty quick. But hey, it was fun!

Never did understand standing on the brakes to achieve a burnout. Seems like cheating to me. Afterall, I could get my previous POS '03 Chevy Cavalier FWD commuter car to do the same if I power-braked like that. Spin and go, if you have the power. If not, why do it in the first place?

FWIW, the G has adequate power to spin the tires and sit pretty stationary for a moment before enough traction builds to propel the car forward. Anything more bone-headed than that, and you deserve damage.

I've always wondered this... 1) Why would a cop ticket you for reving your engine? 2) Why would a cop ticket you if you are in an open abandoned parking lot and you are doing donuts? You are NOT harming anyone but your car. Never really understood these. I could understand getting a ticket for number 1 for maybe trying to instigate something or excessive noise.

it does richen up after 5200 so... but he was referring to actually bumping off of the rev limiter which, i thought, was governed by reducing fuel and air simultaneously with the throttle body. but it was also my understanding that fuel is cut quicker than the throttle body can close. because the fuel gets cut closer to the engine than the throttle body, you get extremely lean for about 1/2 second or so, depending on how hard you are pushing your car (f/i, etc...).
