Poll! Z-tube/K&N filter - MPG increase?

The title says it all folks, for those of you with the drop-in K&N filter, did it increase your MPG? Same question for those who have the Z-tube/K&N filter.

Mods, can you guys make this a sticky? Thanks!

Wow, 6 to 1, that's pretty conclusive so far...

...anyone else?

Do you think MPG goes down because those that do this minor mod, enjoy hearing that roar in the higher RPM's.. meaning more aggressive driving which would equal worse MPG? Not because the mod itself causes MPG to go down?

The Z Tube and K&N drop-in filter combo were my first 2 mods. I did not notice an increase in mpg. I have been checking my mpg since my first tank of gas.

What I can share with you . . . Is that, as the miles increased, I got better gas mileage. After some 8200 miles on my '05 6MT coupe, I now get some 18 -19 mpg (mixed driving) and some 28 mpg (all freeway driving).

Perhaps, the above mentioned combo may have had something to do with it, but I seriously doubt it.

Edit . . . Obviously, if I "lead foot it," the mpg drop dramatically.

I noticed a slight decrease in mileage after installing my Z-tube & K&N filter.
I didn't mind since I loved the mod.

D87- I've stuck the thread for you for a short time.

Thanks Colin! I've been debating getting this combo, and I also figured others would be interested on this controversy as well.

Here's the thing....after installing this combo, your engine sounds throatier and louder above 3500 rpm, so you end up revving it higher more often to hear the sound. This results in lower mpg.

Ok, looks like most people are saying it doesn't add to your MPG. But it does sound like it adds a few pounds to your right foot though...

Thanks Colin (or other Mods) for putting this as a sticky. You can take it off/move it anytime you like.

well i asked this on another thread, but how much does a Z tube cost? I have an 03 coupe and it's always worth a try to get better gas mileage

I went from 20 mpg to 21 mpg with just a panel filter. It is possible the increase is from a clean filter, not the fact it is a k&n.
