RedLine accidently

I have an 05 auto, yesterday i was merging into the expressway, and accidently i shift from D to N, and i saw it went Redline for a couple of seconds. maybe because my foot was still at on the gas pedal.
My car has 3000 miles on it. will this hurt my engine?

You'll be fine, seconds doesn't matter for redline. Its minutes that hurt.

Will the auto not "bounce" the limiter, even in neutral?

No worries bro. I've done that a few times, and for a short time it's ok.
Thank God for the rev-limitter.

Did that ONCE thinking I had put it in Manumatic mode. Likely it's fine but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

weird. why does the needle hits the redline unless you are stepping gas all the way?
i happened to put D to N w/ my other car when i was going what...50 mph?
and it wasnt even close to the redline.

Well it's easy to rev up to the red line if you're in 1st gear right? So maybe G35MC was in 1st or 2nd gear at D just before he swapped it to N which made it rev up very quickly. I've noticed that when I switch from D to manual it sometimes goes down a gear automatically. Maybe that happened too.

Your call will blow up in the next few miles since you redlined it.
