First Oil Change

Just hit 1350 miles and decided it was time to get my first oil change with the G. Since the engine has been broken in i figured it was time. So I went down to my uncle's friend's shop n he did it for me cheap...the car feels better i dont know if its just mental but it feels smoother to me..maybe i'm crazy but damn i just love this car!

I did mine at 1100, getting the car up on the ramps was somewhat difficult though. Did it because i figured after break in the oil would have some debris in the oil pan, not sure if it does or not though.

Many people do an oil change before 3700 miles. Myslef included. As Insanity said, the reason being is that there is break-in debris in the oil.

I've read that some people are using the Purolator Pure One PL14610 oil filter. What conventional oil are you all using for your first and subsequent oil changes (before switching to synthetic)?

I'm at 1350 and can feel the need for an oil change. I meet the frequent-change criteria.

Did my first one right at 3K. I know, I know, I just got the car a month ago... most of that is from a couple trips from SB to SF and back. The car feels a bit smoother to me too, but I don't know if its the oil, or just some combination of the engine breaking in and me getting used to the car. Transmission feels great though. I even notice its smoother first thing in the morning than it was in the first week or so with the car.

yup i did my oil change actually at 500 miles because of the break in debris. Its very miniscule but atleast your clearing out your engine of the small particles that may linger over time. Just preventative maintenance and peace of mind on engine i suppose. And yes teh engine felt smoother afterwards.

No, but I have heard people talking about what a POS it is. You might consider an alternative.

Curious...How much do you save by doing your own oil & filter change? Nissan charges $20 down here in California.
