motor oil at express oil service
Why not just change it every 3500 miles with dino oil? My dealer has a 2006 special, oil & filter etc $20.06. Is mobil 1 that much better or is it just so you can go longer between oil changes?
Thanks
Thanks

I personally prefer syntec, and its cheaper just to buy the 12 quart cases if you can get them on sale.
Its so much easier to just do it yourself since you know that the oil will be correct, the filter properly tightened w/ a crush washer, no spill on the engine, etc etc. It takes 30mins - 45mins to do an oil change leisurely, just go buy the metal ramps at auto-zone and you are set.

jiffy lube uses Pennzoil
I asked for mobil 1, and they said they don't carry them... so I got Pennzoil synthetic oil and Pennzoil oil filter. cost me $60 including tax.
is that bad? the mechanic told me Pennzoil synthetic oil rate better than mobil 1 synthetic oil

Be skeptical of any info you get from a Jiffy Lube "mechanic". Most of the guys who work at these quick lube places lack the background to make those kind of blanket statements. The main advantage to Pennzoil Platinum is its lower production costs compared to Mobil 1 a PAO synthetic. Both of those oils will probably perform well, which is better is a little more complicated. Every type of oil has its advantages and disadvantges depending on application. Also any good standard dino oil will be fine for oil change intervals of 3000 miles/3 months.
P.S. From what I understand Pennzoil oil filters are just rebaged Fram filters.
Heres a good link on baragin oil change places if you are interested: http://autorepair.about.com/cs/gener.../aa040701a.htm

Interesting thread..... I agree with the Jiffy-Lube assessment. Not the sharpest knives in the drawer. I have done all mine at the dealer and interestingly enough, they don't recommend synthetic for the VQ35 engine. No explanation but they don't carry it or recommend it.
I believe you could get reasonable service at any of the quickie lube places if you stood over them. I doubt they would put all the bolts back in the engine bottom aero cover. Every car I have ever taken to them (My 96 Exploder with 132,000 miles) always drips like crazy when I bring it home. They don't clean up anything. My car has never dripped after a visit to Infiniti. Some dealers are better than others. Some are terrible. Mine is pretty good (Ramsey Infiniti - Ramsey NJ)
As for filters, they are all basically rebadged from one company or another. Fram, Hastings, Purolator etc.
