why doesn't someone just contact a gas spring supplier like easylift.com or someone else (there's a ton of them) and just have a bunch of them made up for your group buy. all u need to know are the dimensions and fittings necessary for a proper installation. if u can find someone with the ts damper it makes it even easier because u can just take a look at it and pull all the needed dimensions and fittings right off it. just a thought.

Im down.

I would pay more for quality though so dont go the "low cost" route...

Also, not sure how possible this is, but is there are way to have multiple colors to choose from our should we worry about that once we get them? Just wondering...

Great Idea...

Start a List somehwere and put me on it!

hate to bust you guys' bubbles, but someone already did this and had a thread that went on for a long time and he actually made some, but there was some reason that they didnt work out.. the car would have come with them if they worked. i think it has something to do with extra stress on the hood and it flexing or something... someone could go in search of the thread who's more interested... but i just didnt want you guys to all get too excited or for you to spend tons of time fabricating something that wont work out

a bit more solid info could make your post a bit more useful. otherwise, without doing research, i think you are mistaken. i mean, Top Secret makes the hood dampers specifically *for* our cars. and i trust them to know what they are talking about. i don't see why someone else can't do the same.

well it'll be a thread with the pictures all corrupt since it was a while ago... im just saying that its been attempted by someone else on the boards and he completed the project and messed up a hood or something.... im sorry my post isnt "useful" as you put it.... and that i didnt feel like going and searching through threads to help someone else out... i just kind of figured if he's gonna take the time to do this and doesnt want it to be a waste of time, he could go search for it himself... there is a reason that infiniti put the point to hold our hood in the front and not near the pivot points where the hood is connected... oh and by the way... im just trying to help someone cause i know something they dont and dont tell me that I am mistaken.... because im not. This may be possible... but I am not mistaken... the only statement i actually made was that someone else attempted this and made it and scraped the project when he saw that it wasnt going to work. THAT is true... now whether or not THAT poster knew what he was talking about.... i dont know.. HE may have been mistaken but I am not

For what it's worth, these things are not generally called "springs", nor "dampers", nor "shocks". They are struts. And I'd love some. I can't beleive a $38k car has a prop rod instead of struts. Amazing. This and dozens of other things has really tainted my image of Infiniti.

yeah I would be in for a set... I really hate that stupid hood rod! I was also shocked when I realized it didn't have the struts...

well, as for the hood struts missing, in leu of the hood prop - think of it this way: Infiniti made our car so reliable, that it is simply not necessary for the end user (us) to ever open the hood. never ever.
