For those of you that hardwired with invisicord

http://invisicord.com/

What size length did you get if you wanted to hardwire your V1 close to the mirror, i guess the most commonplace, I'm guessing 6" will be fine?

Thanks

8" and I think it is a *bit* too short to get the detector (V1) at the proper angle. But man, I can't say enough good things about the cord itself.

I have the 8" invisicord and it works perfectly with my X50. I also have a "Mike's" mount and would suggest that as well.

Is there a website for "mike's mount" or pics that I can see. How do I get in touch with mike?

Here is just one of the many threads which will have pictures. Mike is a guy over on my350z.com that sells the mounts. There are a lot of people (including myself) that have purchased the mounts and are very happy with them.

His user name is mike3348. Shoot him a PM.

You can run a search and find a ton of other threads. Buy one, you will be very happy you did. I paid $20 for my X50 mount (I am not sure what the price is for a V1).

Mike's mount is well worth the investment (only $20). I'm using Mike's mount for my 8500 X50 and the Direct SmartCord (for remote muting).

I have a passport 8500. I opted for the 8" as well. So it would give me the option of installing the detector on the p-side of the rearview mirror. Perfect length. I figured if it was bit too long you can always bundle it or zip tie to the mirror stalk.

i dont mean to hijack your thread, but i got the passport 8500 x50 a few weeks ago, and am just wondering if there is a way to use that cord in this thread and still have the detector on my dash? or do i have to put it up by the mirror?

Sure why not? But you have to measure how long you need. I don't quite know why you would that if you still want to put it on the dash. Just use your factory cord.

yeah but then if i use the factory cord, i have to have the big thing going across the whole middle of my steror and what not. i am just wondering if there is a way to get the wires to the dash from the mirror and hide them a little bit. i am pretty tall so if i have the detector mounted on the mirror, i would imagine it would block my view a little.

You can use the Direct SmartCord from Escort ($30). It will allow you to hardwire the detector and have a remote mute button (not IR but connected to a wire). Comes in red or blue.

Here are a few quick pics of my X50 with an invisicord and Mike's Mount. I am really happy with this setup.
