Car shipping!
$700 and almost 3 weeks from Texas to California (and they rubbed a rim moving it around the trailer). That was door to door. It's cheaper if your near a hub for the company and don't mind driving a bit.
I figured it was $250 flight, 2 nights and several tanks of gas. Probably could of save a couple hundred if I wanted to take time off work.

10 years ago I shipped a Lexus GS300 from So Cal to NJ. Cost about $790 and the shipper was Horseless Carriage. Try www.horselesscarriage.com (I think). They ship all kinds of cars across the country.
Mine was a short, convenience-inspired transport. Closest dealer is 4 hours away, so I had them ship it to me. Cost me $500 door-to-door on an open-air hauler. It was a single-car hauler and the guy is the same they (Austin Infiniti) always use. He delivered it to them and then reloaded to bring it to me.
The guy up north (WI...I'm in west TX) that I sold my '55 Bel Air to was quoted $1500-$2000 for an enclosed trailer, $750-$900 for an open-air hauler from professional places. I think he just had a buddy who was hauling a car to Dallas come get it and drive it back home to him for $500.

My neighbor's company does this, PM me with your contact info if you want me to have him call you. I think they are very competitive on rates and he has been doing this for several years.

I've tried DAS (direct auto shippers) a couple of times with good results. They have alot of hubs you can drop the car off at. I think I paid about $500 from arizona to CA (I didn't have time to drive there) and around $750 for cross country which took about two weeks. They seem to be pretty careful, they notate all damage when they pick it up and let you check it out thoroughly when you receive it. I think the best part about them is they let you pay on delivery...
Check out this site, which is basically a review site for shipping companies. I used it to get multiple quotes, and I chose 1st choice shipping to ship from socal to oregon, which I am currently in the process of doing for my new g35 coupe.
