My Creative Autoworks Ordeal

I just thought I'd let my situation be known for everyone out there who might be thinking about ordering from this company.

Back May I ordered a set of 20" DPE R07 Variant S with Toyo tires. I paid them half of what the total value was of the package which turned out to be $2150. Back when I ordered it I knew that DPE was having some stock issues and I really wasn't in a rush to get my wheels in. Around October I get a call saying that my rims are in but the Toyo tires I wanted were on national backorder. I said thats fine and ended up paying the other half of the rims. From then I kept being told that the tires would be in within a few weeks. Then on December 10th a drunk driver hits my car, I didn't find out till around X-mas time that my car would be totalled. I contact Creative Autoworks and tell them about my situation and they told me that usually on custom ordered parts they can only give a 50% refund but in my case since my order has been held up they would work with me. They offered me $1000 for my tires and with the remaining $3300 half would be store credit and half would be refunded. After that I didn't hear back from them. In mid January I picked up a 06 Civic Si and called them asking about the refund and if I could order another set of rims for my Civic. The rims I ordered came out to $2200. So I had $1650 in store credit as well as $2650 they still hadn't refunded me. After my rims I should be getting a refund for $2100 and to this day i STILL haven't gotten it. When I call them they tell me that they will not issue me a refund untill they sell my rims.

Anyways, these guys had great customer service at the start but as it got towards the end they just ended up giving me the shaft. If your thinking about dealing with these guys I'd advise you not to. If anyone can offer me any advice on how I could get my money back I'd greatly appreciate it. I feel like I'm jammed up in a corner on this issue. Thanks in advance.

I hear you man but i also see the point from Creative's standpoint. Stagnant inventory is costly for a company to hold. The faster they turn it over, the less cost for them. This is why most companies don't have in stock. More so for specific applications where it's much much harder to sell (not everyone out there has a G). Your situation was unforutnate, but it's at your own risk. This is why once i hear the word "back order" and "it should be about 6-8 weeks" i seriously consider looking elsewhere, especially if that "back order" is from Japan (or not on N.A. soil). Crap can happen in that 6-8 week time frame, not your fault, not Creative's fault. It's a risk you inadvertently take. Once u put that initial down you are saying "Yes, go ahead and order it, and should I want a return, I abide by the Creative policy that's on the website for returns."

I personally would not have put initial down and just cancelled the order right there.

Why don't you just get your rims and tires from, and sell them yourself...instead of having to deal with all this store credit, deduction, etc...?

I am sympathetic to your situation, being that I have been let down by numerous companies in the past.

I can't roll with you on suggesting that others don't purchase from Creative Autoworks! They have plenty of happy clients on this forum including myself.
I don't think any company that is in business for any length of time has a track record of NO complaints.

James has been more than helpful with before and after the sale customer service. He has gone above and beyond normal service, providing me with extra keys to my locks after I lost them 7 months after my purchase. Free of Charge and no shipping cost.

With all of that being said I really hope James and Creative Autoworks resolves your purchase issue! Good Luck

Man, that sucks. I sympathize for your situation. James at Creative gets alot of flack for things, which are out of his control. Unfortunately, your unfortunate situation was out of his control, as well. Nonetheless, that does not help you. As mentioned, you other option is to sell the wheels on your own to recoupe your money. I trust you reach a speedy resolve.

As for reselling I didn't want to deal with reselling them. They were wheels made for nonbrembo with as big of a lip as i could possible get. I've sold most of my G35 parts that I never installed and the buyer would always try to undercut me. They would show up with $150 less then the agreed amount. So for these I just didn't want to deal with the hassle of people trying to get a quick cheap deal.

I'm sure they do have great service maybe I'm just the unlucky one, I hope that by me posting this it will help them resolve this issue because calling them isn't working.
