Please keep in mind that there are peeps here who don't have 'puters runnin on steroids and the total package could turn out to be several hundred megs depending on what compression I dewit at and the more compressed the less the quality of the vids. So for sure it's gettin chopped into 3 to 5 parts.

Now just before I'm gettin ready to hoist and publish the url for part one 'Phat brings up a point which one has to take into consideration. Too many peeps here to have a secure password, it will eventually get out IMO. From what I saw there was nothing 'illegal' in the video.

I had seen the VW video which got some peeps into trouble and they clearly violated the law by exceeding the speed limit in a construction zone or in any zone for that matter and videoing the speedometer while they were doing it. Just for that they should of received the Dumbass award for the year. They also ran in and out repeadidly in the closed contruction lane. That's a no no even if you are dewin 5mph. None of those things were done on our cruise, and again I didn't see anything illegal or anything that would attract attention from the powers to be.

With all that said, I'm gonna respect some of the peeps concerns and hold off broadcasting the url for now until we get some kind of consensus on this.

As for compression... I have a blazin' Cable Modem connection and would truly prefer the FULL uneditied version of it... [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img] But I understand that not everyone wants to sit overnight on their 56k modem to get 100megs of part1 of 6 series... lol

Do BOTH!! The unedited takes NO time, hurl that up... then you can compress it to smaller parts for people with slower connections later... [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img] It's very easy to use a movie joiner program to join the parts of .avi, .mpg, or any files for that matter.

 

K First,

Is it possible to host up a high res and low res version. I mean I think it's safe to say that most of us are on broadband and If I have to start a download and check it later for some high quality vids so be it. I dont know if this is possible due to any constraints with where your hosting it but if it is I'm sure you'll let me know.

Second,
I dont know that we did anything that horrible but you have the tape so you can be the judge. Also how much could our ***** get busted? Lets say for instance it was obvious on the tape that we were speeding, is that something that we honestly would have to worry about? I guess Greg (balzac) can met us know on that one. But worst case senerio cut it thats all.

As I said before be alittle considerate of those that don't have 'blazzin speed' on the modem highway.

Although it is not a full edit there still is work involved and dealing with large philes and chopping and batch capturing..... yada yada yada.

Once u encode the raw video and compress it you won't get the quality back if you compress too much, u need to start the routine all over again and vids are very time consuming. Vids burn alot of computer horsepower and real estate. Maybe u wanna help me out with sumtin out of the future. =) The 'puter that I do the editing on is runnin 2.8 with a gig of mem. No offense, it's got intel inside. =)

Not everyone has a joiner and/or knows what to do. 'Phat there are peeps out there that don't have your 'puter savvy. Some peeps think ftp is a florist =) .

I'm just waitin on some input on this, should have an answer later today.

Keep in mind, it was your post that put some doubt in this, two parts are already hoisted.

I'm a "little" biased since I work for AMD...lol btw...Everyone... go buy yourself an Athlon64!! They're faster, cheaper, better, and did I mention faster??!! [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

Maybe if you had the 64-bit CPU for video encoding, it might be faster... I saw the rendering a couple of months back for Far Cry (64bit PC game), and it was awesome!! In the future, I wouldn't mind helping out with some of the video editing.

The question of legality was just thrown at me in an email, so here it goes.....

IF this video is posted and gets into circulation, it can be used to press charges against everyone who's license plate is visible and who's speed can be approximated by the lines in the road. I can see numerous times where this is possible.

Other charges besides speeding are reckless driving and someone actually saying we went at an excessive speed. Posting this video is not only bad, but stupid. Unless it is seriously edited down, it could be catastophic for the G Squad's future.

Additionally, I will not be at any meet where video is taken during a cruise. I won't be implicated by association if someone else hurts someone or gets hurt. If you think I'm blowing this out of proportion, that's fine. But I see video evidence all the time in court and every single time we sit there laughing to ourselves that "these dumbasses couldn't make it any easier for us."

 

Okay neil, just edit the plates out!!!

GREAT point... I say either an edited version, or restricted access to members only (back to password login) for access. I know it's a pain in the ****, but looks like it has to be done... and it's the safest.

For the two peeps that were expectin a 'package' in the morning, I'm holdin off for now.

There is vid of the G's illegally parked at SM, I will put them up =) for those that can't park within the lines, what can I say peeps.

 

Another thing to realize guys, is that if the video is posted or even posted to a limited audience, it puts me in a bad position. The video dies. If ONE person wants to edit it down, then so be it, but you have to realize that if it gets out and it comes back that I knew of it......
