Modified Madness Details
Modified Madness : Scheduled Activities
Modified Madness, two days of fun, excitement, extreme audio tuners, custom rides, motorcycle stunts and celebrities descends on the central Pennsylvania community of State College, Pa, home of the Penn State University Nittany Lions. With the Bryce Jordan Center as its home, Modified Madness (M2) from Carlisle Events will present elite cars, corporate displays, a judged show field, sponsor rigs, dancers, models, a beauty contest, lots of lights, sounds, entertainment and TV stars. Two members of the West Coast Customs team, stars of MTV's "Pimp My Ride," will be special guests at the show, as will Dave "The Fishman" Rivera, one of America's most noteworthy audio installers, and the motorcycle stunt team, StarBoyz.
The 16,000-seat Bryce Jordan Center serves as home to the Modified Madness event hosts sports exhibitions, family shows, Big Ten Basketball, as well as some of the top-name performers in the music entertainment industry
Special Guest from West Coast Customs - Big Dane and Q
The West Coast Customs Crew from "Pimp My Ride" will be special guests. To be specific, WCC's accessories guru Big Dane and Q (WCC's manager) will attend and be interactive with fans, talking to them and signing autographs. They will bring several of the vehicles that they've modified for display, as well as merchandise for sale, and will be available on both Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with their show, "Pimp My Ride" is hosted by rapper Xzibit. The folks at WCC take a car and customize it, often taking it from low life to high life in the course of their 30-minute show on MTV. A hot, customized, "pimped-out" car (we used to call them "trick") can be worth $30,000. The show has been nominated for a People's Choice Award, and can be seen Sundays at 9pm.
The West Coast Customs crew generally transform the cars by redoing the interior, adding plush upholstery, stereo systems, DVD players and other items to fit in with the personality of the car's owner. A completely trick, or pimped-out ride also is enhanced with a new paint job, rims, graphics, spoilers or other hot accessories. West Coast Customs also does performance upgrades to give cars more power and better handling.
Special Guest Dave "The Fish Man" Rivera
Since 1990, Dave Rivera has been a custom car visionary, transforming ordinary automobiles into extraordinary customs. Outrageous. Cutting-edge. Extreme. These descriptions don't do enough to describe what Rivera, the Fish Man from Puerto Rico has done on the custom car scene. He is a fabricator, a transformer who attacks all types of cars, from Beetles to Celicas to Monteros to BMW cycles to golf carts, and nearly anything else he can get his designer hands on.
Known for his ICE (in-car entertainment), Rivera has created some of the most memorable and "out there" vehicles one can imagine. He has appeared on numerous TV shows, has graced 15 magazine front covers and nearly 50 magazine articles in a little more than a decade. And he teaches a course in fabrication every year called Fish Camp. And, oh yeah, he earned his nickname by installing aquariums, complete with live fish, into the vehicles he customizes - from putting a tank in place of a rear window, to installing fish bowls where the headlights should be. And now, we bring him to you, at Modified Madness.

Modified Madness : Scheduled Activities Part II
Special Guest Performers The StarBoyz
The motorcycle stunt team, the StarBoyz will appear and perform at M2, executing all kinds of extreme and crazy tricks and stunts on their sport bikes. These guys draw huge crowds wherever they go, and have released a number of videos and DVDs showcasing their skills.
What began as an underground street performance team, took on an extreme life of its own, and has now taken mainstream America by storm in the two-wheeled blur of the StarBoyz stunt team. The Akron, Ohio-based group of Scott Caraboolad, Joe Frazier and Kevin Marino have sold 50,00 copies of the homemade stunt tapes, and their 100mph wheelies and rolling burnouts have excited exuberant fans from coast to coast. The trio of motorcycle performers will thrill you and amaze and entertain you with performances during the M2 show.
The team began its assault in 1996, taking its name for the Vanson Star-pattern jackets they liked to wear. They gained a measure of underground notoriety by performing (and videotaping) extreme and sometimes dangerous stunts on the their two-wheeled pavement burners on public roads. They now confine most of their stunt work to sanctioned events such as M2.
Scott Caraboolad prefers his Honda CBR 900 RR when he flies at 100 mph on one wheel, body high over the handlebars, colored fur whipping around him. Kevin Marino has parked his former stunt favorite, a Suzuki GSXR 750 in favor of a new CBR 900 to perform his tank-riding wheelie, leaving his leopard-print seat empty. Joe Frazier also rides a CBR 900, and like a cop in the morning, Joe likes his donuts, only his are high-speed street donuts, doing burnouts around any target he chooses.
State College Welcome Goody Bag
We will include coupons to local restaurants, shops, bars and retailers, as well as automotive-related items. They will be available at host hotels. More information to come.
If you are attending please fill out the Modified Madnes Poll.
