WTB: 2005-2006 G35 Sedan 6MT
2005-2006 G35 Sedan 6MT
I am looking for a low mileage 05-06 G35 Sedan 6MT. Preferably black exterior and no wing...but willing to consider all options. I have cash in hand for $10K - $15K purchase price depending on condition. Willing to pay for a nice example. Thank you for your time.
The long of the short of it here is that I have daily driven a Mazdaspeed6 for 11 years and it has become "unreliable". I am searching for another car of that era that still has a pretty analog feel. I would buy another MS6 if a low mileage unmodified one was available but they are pretty rare. I have narrowed down a handful of replacement sedans for the family and I just keep coming back to the G35 for feel, engagement, power, composure, value, maintenance cost, etc. I have considered the TL Type S, RS4, and E39 M5. That being said nothing carries the value of the G35 and this would be a daily driver for me.
Appreciate your consideration and hopefully the stars align. The search will continue if not.

Thanks,
Appreciate the quick reply. I am located in AL. I would have to buy sight unseen but would plan to get an independent pre-purchase inspection and do some due diligence. I saw a few on autotrader and cargurus (mostly in CA) but they were all north of 100K miles. i would prefer something a bit lower like 40K - 80K.
That being said if I can't get one in a few months I may need to move toward the TL Type S/RS4/E39 M5 but frankly all of them are quite a bit more expensive...and the TL Type S just isn't really in the same class of all of these (feel wise)

Out of curiosity, what would your thoughts be on buying one as a daily driver over 100,000 miles? G35s are still pretty cheap so I wouldn't pay much more for a low mileage one vs. high mileage which is why I am trying to hold out.
I personally wouldn't have any issues, timing chains are good for the life of the vehicle. You can catch up on maintenance, expect all kinds of sports-car maintenance stuff though.
There is one in Sacramento, CA with 139K miles for about $8.8K. I would have to tack on another $1K+ to ship it but it looks mint other than the typical door leather coming off. I think I would rather wait for a lower mileage one and pay a few extra grand for it (assuming I can find one). I can afford to wait and look for another 6 months I'd say but don't want to drag it out forever as I'm now dailying a 1996 volvo 850.

Test drove some TL Type-S (auto) and a G35 (auto) in Atlanta yesterday. I am sure everyone is aware given this is a 15+ year old discussion but I am still amazed at how much sportier the G35 drives while still being comfortable in comparison to the TL. I think I am taking the TL-Type S off the list and will just wait on a G35. Appreciate the feedback and help.
All,
I think I am going to move forward with the a black/black 05 G35 with 139K miles out of Sacramento. It has a few scuffs/rock chips but per the pre-purchase inspection, mechanically it appears to be in very good working order. An added benefit would be I can hopefully pick this up for around $7,500, so I won't take too much of a hit to my wallet vs. the myriad of options I am looking at (TL Type S, S4, S3, etc). It took me 11 years to put 60K miles on my Mazdaspeed6 so hoping I can have this for another 10 or so and get to 200K. I would not normally buy a car with this many miles but black, low mileage, manual g35 sedans (05-06) aren't exactly crawling out of the wood work. This limits my exposure and if one comes up down the road with low miles (or I can find a low mileage MS6), I'll be in a better position to jump on it vs. taking a larger up front cost on another vehicle.
I am really just looking for an affordable sport sedan, . The Mazdaspeed6 fit that role well and I think the G35 can too while being a bit better on the luxury/comfort level while also being relatively reliable particularly against some of the audis I am/was considering.
Thanks all,
