Was Gonna Go with a BlueBat Rear Valence Overlay But....
I got ambitious yesterday and decided to use my folks' garage and make my diffuser mod a little more permanent.
It took me about 30 mins and was way easier than I thought it was going to be. Used black bumper paint and I think it turned out really well!
I might be looking into a new diffuser all together but for now this is definitely an improvement. Comments welcome as always.
Quick Shot Before:

After Sanding, No going back NOW!!

Finished with Second Coat:

Off with the Tape:

Plate Back On and Out in the Sun to Dry:

All finished up!

this is something i debated doing as well, but didnt really want to risk a DIY on something so permanent....
what grit sand paper did you use? what kind of paint exactly? (brand, type, kind of black (gloss, flat, etc)) did you use a clear finish? how many coats of black? how many coats of finish?
I recently painted my friends grill and did like 5 coats of black and 3 coats of clear after sanding and it turned out really really nice, but am really skeptical about doing it on a car panel ..

Thanks for all the compliments guys!
I did as well, that's why I was going to just do the overlay (Sorry Bat!!) but finally said what the hell! My pops is a retired body and paint man (the front end of his current project can be seen in pic 5) so I figured he would/could fix whatever I f'ed up
I used P400 to scuff up the original paint, then hit it with P1500 after the first coat (probably an unneeded step for most). Only needed 2 coats of black total after sanding. The paint I used was flexible bumper coater:
I picked it up at my local auto paint store for $14 bucks.
I did not use any clear coat as I wanted a matte finish. No shine. Some of the pics may have looked a bit shiny as the paint wasn't fully dry or picked up some of the camera's flash.
Well, I knew it could be done but I did get some additional courage from a post on here not to long ago. A sedan owner painted his so I figured I could give it a shot. I don't have the link off hand, sorry.
Overall, I am very happy with the results and the pics really don't do it justice. I will try and take some better ones soon in a better location.
Thanks again for all the positive comments everyone!

your thread might give me the courage to do it myself haha

Well, if you don't want to jump right to painting, you can get an overlay instead to make sure you like the look on your car. I might still have mine being sent to me. I purchased one from BlueBat a couple days before I decided just to paint.
So if you want it, lemme know. HAHA
