Hmm....
That is strange. If your car is still under warranty, take it to the dealer. There may be a quick fix.
I have heard many people complain about the Bose unit. I have a stock Bose system in my Pontiac. It is Ok. The one in my G is better. However, there are very few stock audio systems that can compete with a well made custom system. But, since I don't normally turn the volume above 20, I have to say that I am satisfied with the system thus far.
I did have a Bose Gold system in my 96 Corvette convertible. That was a piece of crap. Volume and base were just garbage. Speaker placement was very bad too. But, since the car was 1 in about 25 (very rare option packages and deletes), I did not modify it at all.
