Is there a way to track vehicle orders other than contacting the dealership that placed the order?

 

once the car is loaded onto a ship, it's vin is sent to dealer, usually this is 3-4 weeks prior to delivery.
once you have the vin, go to infiniti and start searching your dealerships inventory

 

The only thing the dealer can tell you is:

1. If the car has been built or not
2. If the car is in transit
3. If the car is in port

My car was built in mid May and I received a VIN on May 28th, this meant it was on the boat. It arrived in Port (NY) on June 30th. It showed up in dealer inventory on July 14th and I didnt get it until July 21st.

If you check the dealer inventory every day after you receive your VIN, you could have a long wait.

Generally speaking, if you live on the West Coast delivery is 2-3 weeks after receiving VIN, East Coast 5-8 weeks.

actually, there is someone on this site who has access to shipping manifests. i think when he was expecting his, he actually posted ship names and details.

 

The person who posted the shipping information was me.

The best you can do is estimate what boat your car is on. Hual, the shipper does not know what VIN's are on each boat. Their manifests only say "xxx Infiniti's".

yea unfortunately its just a guessing game which ship your car is in.

I have a question, when the ship hits port and unload, how long does it take till the car shows up on the infiniti's website inventory?


I thought my car came in a shipment that arrived this monday but after 3 days it hasnt showed up on the infiniti's inventory

 

It all depends when it hits port.

Some people get their car within 4 days of it hitting port, even before it shows up in dealer inventory.

Other people, me for example, it didn't show up in dealer inventory until 14 days later. Of course I was a worse case situation. This is what happened to me:

Car hits port June 30th, sits on boat until July 6th (because it came in at the end of the quarter and when everyone was on vacation), gets loaded on a truck on July 8th, dealer gets it after 5 on the 18th (a friday), I get it on monday the 21st. Thas 21 friggin days to get from the port to me.
