I've decided to start bringing illegal aliens across the border in the G for extra cash for mods. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone here use a trunk-mounted bike rack? I've searched Yakima's and Thule's sites (Fit Guide), but they return no results.

I have an '05 6MT coupe w/Aero package.

My friend tried to fit a mountain bike in his...but couldn't. Here's a pic of my bike for reference...but due to the wider bars on a mtn bike...it might be more difficult (if at all possible) to fit. Good luck!

thanks for the pic.....I measured and you are correct about the wider bars...I don't believe it's possible to get the bike in.

Man thanks for the post. I am a roadie as well and have been researching how to move my bike around as well!

I ride a 54cm Time w/ 44cm bars. Glad to see you worked out the angles!!!

When I first got my coupe, I test-fitted my K2 Zed (MTB) in the trunk and managed to squeeze it in the same fashion you did. That being said, I've never used the coupe to transport my bike, as I realized the likelihood of scratching something up wasn't worth it, so I now use a beater to carry the bike.

Ditto.. I have my Gary Fisher mountain bike go on back of the Altima... and bike racks do do some damage to cars so I would never put it on my G...

My Trek 1000 was a pain in the a** to put in. I got it in. I managed to not scratch anything except my arms and about 1 lb of grease on my shirt.

Don't forget to lay down a towel or something below it so no grease makes contact anywhere.

I found this out a few months ago, totally by accident, but it's a funny story now.

So I broke up with my girlfriend, and i had everything cleared out of her place, except my bike. It was a Cannondale M500, oldie, but i love it. So i pull up to her house, go inside, trying to be nice, and she accidentally calls me the name of the new guy she was seeing. So i said a few choice words to her that i can't repeat on here or I'll get banned and walked out to her garage to get my bike. She follows me and watches from her porch. I take the front wheel off and realize that i'm going to have to remove the rear too AND drop the seats down to get it in. So i go into the car, pull both front seats up, drop the rear down and move the front seats back. I go around the back, and start to slide the bike frame into the car, took a few tries, but i finally got it in. I could tell she was having a hayday watching me just hoping it wouldn't work out. So i threw the wheels in on top of the frame and slammed the trunk lid down. I turned around to her, gave her the bird and said F*** you very much. I got in, turned the key, turned off the vdc, and left two nice trails out of her driveway.

and that's how i know my bike fits in the trunk

Okay the hitch came in today.. Well it was in last week but they ordered the one for the sedan. Got the call that the coupe hit was in and headed down. It took the installer about 45-an hour for the install. Probably would have been faster if he was not stopping to take phone calls.

The hitch looks good. The 1 1/4 in receiver sits right below the liscence plate. It looks like they had about 4 bolts holding it onto the rear bumper. Two behind the liscence plate and two underneath. They did cut less than a two inch notch out of the rear bumper but the only way you would ever see that would be if you crawled underneather the car. They let me took a look at it while it was up on the rack.

I am sorry I did not take pictures of it when it was on the rack. I was half way down there and forgot that I had taken the camera out of the car. But I will try to take some pics this weekend when I take the bike out for a ride.

The hitch and the install look great. I think it is a must do for anyone who wants to still bring their bikes and not have to load it in the car. The hit says it's rate to 1,000 pounds. I cannot tell you if that fits in the jet ski weight or not.. But for bikes, it can't be beat.

I have a black G so I think you really have to look to see the reciever. You guys let me know when you see the pictures this weekend.

The hitch shipped and with tax was a little of two hundred, and the install was $45. I am sure if you had drills a cutter for the bumber you could do it yourself, but I am not a handy man so I think it was money well spent.

The install was done by a hitch guy in Santa Clara on El Camino right next door to the brushless carwash and the adult book store. If you have any questions go ahead and PM me.
