Coupe vs Sedan
Coupe vs Sedan
Went to Infiniti of Fairfield to get the nerve up to check out the interior of both cars. Didn't want to do it before because I felt I might lose my nerve and fall for the dealers magical words and drive off with one before I was really financially ready. (Just got to pay off this last credit card in November and my credit should be pefect!!!! Finally)
But my main concerns were backseat room and trunk space. I got a 2 year old and I bought a Jeep Liberty this year for wife so I think I'm good with the 4 dr requirement. So I told the dealer I wanted to see the coupe and 4 dr. The coupe is soooooo nice, I love the seats. It feels really similar to my Prelude so I think the transition will be smooth. The seats in the front were all the way back and I showed my wife how they move up automatically. She liked that. The backseats looked spacious and looked like plenty of room for a car seat IMO. Then I checked out the trunk. It wasn't big but I think you could 2 medium sized suitcases if you went on a weekend vacation.
Then I checked out the sedan. It was just as nice, I got in the passenger side and the front seat was pulled all the way back. I'm 5'10 and I could stretch my legs all the way out easy. Then I got in the back seat to check the room. I was behind the passenger seat and it was touching my knees but that was because the seat was slid all the way back. I was still comfortable and reclining the back seats made for a comfortable feel. Then I checked out the sedan trunk. I was expecting it to be bigger than the coupes but it really wasn't. It has more depth to it but it isn't much wider or longer. You could fit maybe 3 medium suitcases in it.
So IMO the only difference is the 2 doors. If you want the convenience of not having to move the seat forward and letting someone climb in the back then the it's the 4 door. If thats not a problem for you then the coupe has enough room for 4 people........

Re: Coupe vs Sedan
I take both of my children to school every day in my G coupe. One car seat, one not; it's not a problem whatsoever.
For adults, the rear headroom is limited; anyone over 5' 8" has to scrunch a bit. The trunk space is small as well. Non-folding booster carseats don't fit back there.
That's the price you pay for the coupe styling though, and a small price it is. The sedans look nice, but the coupes look fantastic.

Re: Coupe vs Sedan
I bring my 17 and twin 13 year olds from NY to MD every two weeks with two of them in the back of the coupe. No problem with leg room.

Re: Coupe vs Sedan
You also have to take into account that it's 100x harder to find deals on the coupe than on the sedan. I wouldn't say it's easy, but if you look at the lots especially in the bay area (fairfield included), you would see that all the cars returned for various reasons are sedans. Because of this reason, i think you could get a big discount (2000 off MSRP if you're persistant) whereas you can't really get jack off MSRP on the coupe. the Coupe is worth it for the style and looks if you can afford the difference...personally i think the sedan is just plain ugly but that's just me!
