test drive question

I'm currently building a house and I am maybe two months away from closing... probably a little sooner. I am wondering what is too early to get a test drive in? I plan on buying my coupe immediately after closing on my house..I might do it that same day. I test drove the manual once, and I can't lie it sucked. I didn't get a good feel for the car and I know I just need to test drive it again. Would doing a test drive now be wasting the dealers time since I wont be buying till november/december, or would a dealer appreciate me coming in for a test drive now?

Re: test drive question

if they're a good dealer, then time w/ a future customer should never be considered a waste of their time. i say go and test drive it. it sounds like you want to get rid of some doubts in your mind about the manual.

Re: test drive question

Who cares when you're going to buy the car. The fact that you're taking interest in the dealership's car already makes the test drive worthwhile. I've test driven the G35 Coupe twice already and I don't plan to buy the car until the beginning of next summer. If you're interested in the vehicle and have the ability to buy it now or later is all that matters to the dealership. If it was just for kicks...maybe they'd care.

Re: test drive question

Haha .. Go for the testdrive for sure. We testdrove 4 So Cal dealerships [manual trans] everytime. Each dealer has a different way of letting you drive it. If I may suggest, Monclair Infiniti in Southern Cali, has an excellent salesman, David Joe. His course was excellent, including doing donuts, getting on an on ramp @ 55mph, it was a real feel for the car.

But don't get ur eyes set on the car if you see it. We found the exact brand new one we wanted @ Monclair. However, wen we called back to buy, in less than a week. It was sold.

We found ANOTHER brand new one, in Van Nuys, like 50 miles from my house. But we drove the next day to get it. The dealer had a hard time holding it for us just a night. I guess they are big sellers.

Re: test drive question

the dealer by me didn't have an unsold 6MT coupe on lot. was there 3 times.

tested sedans and coupes. tested a 350z to get feel for 6mt.

if you are ordering a typically outiftted car, take you chance and just show up. if you are set on G coupe, order now. will be there end of dec, early jan.
