Tire wear expectations
Re: Tire wear expectations
Hmmm maybe it could be enviroment related as well? I have 14k on my pilots and drive about 70 miles per day mostly freeway here in Cali. I can see no excessive wear on the front or rears so far and figure I can get AT LEAST another 15-20k out of them. I also have a heavy foot and love to push the performance so it's not like I baby these tires either. Maybe it has to do with the composition of the roads that some people are driving on?

ReDRoK8, have you ever rotated your tires (dismount & mount)? I live in northern California and drive about 70-75 miles each day too.

I live in south florida as well. Since I just got my coupe, I cannot guess how long the tires will last. However, in my old Grand Am, I had to replace my tires every year, no matter what model of tire I had! I think it's due to the roads being hot here year-round (?).
Re: Tire wear expectations
It also depends on the weather. People in arizona go through tires like crazy.

The tires CAN be rotated on the G. It will cost around $80 though. Basically they unmount the tire from the wheel
fronts stay at front, rears stay at rear, so its just the right-left swap, then remount, rebalance, and lug on

Re: Tire wear expectations
I would actually expect a very good life out of them. While I've had a set of Michelin XGT-V's(extremely soft tires) that wore out in 7000 miles, the Michelins that came on my Miata lasted 24,000 miles. This includes a lot of tail out driving and an autocross school. I have switched my fronts to 245/40 Pilot Sports to make it more balanced and I have been pushing it very hard in corners. I am still surprised at how good the turn-in is despite the cars weight and wheelbase. I would have expected the car to be camber limited from the factory like most are, but I'm not rolling over at all. In fact, I haven't even work the nipples off either side of the tires. Infiniti/Nissan has done a great job getting the camber right to put the maximum contract patch on the ground. This increases the grip, allows even wear across the tire and extends tire life. I would expect about 25,000 miles out of my first set with aggressive driving.

Re: Tire wear expectations
I would imagine that any savings you get in extended tread life from the unmount-remount tire swapping method would be offset by the cost of repeated mounting and balancing.
