Please Help Me!
So I currently have an '06 MT coupe, with already 12,000 miles. my "service engine soon" light has come on twice already.... the first time around 6500 miles... i ignored it and after a couple of hundred miles it dissapeared.... more recently, it came on again... after the harsh rain in baltimore... once again it came on and after a couple of hundred miles... it went away... this time however, i actually went to autozone and had the code read... it was TPS... throttle position sensor... can someone please tell me how important this sensor is... and why the SES light comes on and stays on and then turns off after a couple of hundred miles... i read something about misfiring... but im not sure if that was it... my car is still under warranty so i want to make sure i do anything and everything possible to "fix" it... thank you for all your input..
if the SES light comes on and turns off after a couple of hundred miles... does that mean the TPS has been fixed or resetted itself??? or does the SES light turn off after a certain amount of time while the problem still remains...

Take it to the dealer to make sure. My ses went on and off than stayed on--turned out I had a failed cam position sensor and until the tech fixed it, my car was running pig rich to protect the engine--14 mpg--now that it's fixed, the light is off and I'm getting 18-23 mpg on average. Better safe than sorry.
