Asked this on another forum but no responses yet, so here goes. Whenever I shut the car off with the clutch out (and in neutral), there's a rattle that goes on a second or so after the engine stops turning. If I do the same with the clutch depressed and in gear, no rattle. Is this normal/bad? Not a transmission expert here.

 

Its the flywheel, and its perfectly normal. I never liked the sound so I keep the clutch in when I turn off the car.

I don't know about it being "normal", but it is normal for our cars. These cars have a lot of clutch rattle.

 

hmm ive always wondered what that was too..haha

 

maybe we all have little squirrels runnin' around in there chewin' on synchros and what-not.

 

thx... i wondered as well... i guess its common on the 6mt... i guess its because this is the 1st gen 6spd from nissan and the skyline used a tranny made by some german company... i forget :/
