Re: driving school, racing techniques
Oh man, there's a ton of schools out there. It's all in what you want and how much you want to spend. Everything from defensive courses to anti-terrorist driving courses, and all the up to getting a racing license. This may help you get started;

I know an ex "wheel man" for the Italian embassy in NY (the guy who would drive around visiting diplomats and whatnot) who offers private defensive driving classes. These classes are tailered to your needs. He can teach you how to get the most out of car and how to safely reach the cars limits. Or if you want he can teach you tactical moves to avoid gun fire, ambush and or car jacking situtions. He was on the Oprha show and the show was how so many woman are taking his class. His services are offered at a rate of anywhere from $50 to $200 an hour, depending on what you need. He's also available for group classes. Best of all, he comes to you, and he'll teach you right in your car. He also has access to huge private lots where you can practice your new moves. Cars wise, he owns everything from custom SUV's, to a tricked out Twin Turbo Porsche. He's located in NYC, but he's been all over the US if the request calls for it. You can e-mail him at jon@jonkoch.com

Group classes? I'm down if the price is reasonable! I'm in Jersey. Anyone else?

It depends on what your goal is. I like to improve my autocrossing, so I go to Evolution Driving Schools. They have them all over the country. If you want to play on a road course, just go to Bondurant or Skip Barber. Do a 3-day school and make a vacation out of it. BTW, professional drivers schools will show you how to drift, but don't teach e-brake turns or powerslides. That's more for stunt schools.
