Does Chrome plating have a bad effect on Wheel balance?

BAD effect? It should not . But I would have them RE-balanced in any case.
If you mean will it be harder to balance or require more weights, etc. it should not if the plater does a good job.
The total weight of the wheel will be slightly higher. Lighter wheels (unsprung weight) is always an advantage. But I doubt you will notice any difference in your overall driving experience.

Anyway. Since one must remove the tires to get wheels chromed. You will have the wheels/tires rebalanced anyway. Should not be any problem at all.

It's not that bad. I looked into getting the rims on our TL chromed, and they told me it would add 2.2 pounds per wheel. Granted it was a 17" wheel, but still.

I work in the service department for Acura. I have seen people chrome plate factory wheels, and then we cannot get them to balance right, so in my opinion it can throw the balance off.

the only thing chrome plating does is make it harder for the wheel weight to stay on.they will throw off wheel weights pretty easy.make sure the tire shop uses stick on weights.
