Clutch warranty problem

My local Infiniti service manager thinks my pressure plate has gone south.
The clutch feels pretty bad (stiff, vibrates, etc).

He said that the clutch, being a friction device like wiper blades or brakes aren't covered under warranty. He also mentioned that he would have to get a Nissan "rep" involved in an attempt to get the car warrantied.

The car was purchased and regularly serviced at this dealer since new, and driven normally by a mature owner.

If I have to pay to replace the clutch on this thing, I think I'm gonna lose it! I could understand if the car was modified and abused, but give me a break!

Anybody else have this problem and were able to warranty it? What should I say to them?

Thanks very much

How many miles? F*ck that, dont pay for ****. Tell em to take the clutch and pressure plate out and to show you it. If youre telling the truth, there should be no signs of abuse. You can tell when a clutch has been dumped and abused by the massive amounts of glazing. If they wont grant you warranty work, head to another dealer and try again there.

I did a JWT clutch and flywheel combo. It was about $800 for the clutch and flywheel and about $350 for the install.

And I beat the living crap out of it.(370rwhp) It has only slipped once and that was going in reverse up a steep hill and it was my fault.

I also recently upgraded my clutch and flywheel to ACT. The entire thing (labor included) was about $1500 at a local shop. the dealer told me that the clutch would have been covered under the bumper to bumper warranty, but not the powertrain warranty and a new clutch would cost $2100 (lucky for me i was about 4k past the b2b). the guy i took it to had to take it to the dealer. i talked to the dealer about the grinding noise it made at very low rpm's. they said that since my new flywheel was a 1 peice instead of a 2 peice with a buffer, then it would always do that, and it wasn't causing any damage. anybody ever heard anything like that?
