New rattle for me.

So I got a new rattle this morning and it seems a little hard to describe, but here we go anyway. I have an 05 6MT..... So I come out of the garage this morning and as I am driving away I am accelerating, everything seems fine. Then I let off the gas when I get to about third, and I hear this weird rattle that I can't really explain. I step on the gas, it goes away, I let off and coast, it comes back. It seems to happen in any gear, but I just noticed it first in 3rd and 2nd. I am going to be getting the oil changed today because this is my first thought, but other than that it seems really odd and I don't know how to explain the noise. Has anyone else had a strange sound during this scenario at all? It almost sounds like the death rattle we get when we shut off with your foot off the clutch, only while you are rolling......any thoughts would be helpful. Flywheel, clutch, throw out bearing, tranny, maybe just need an oil change? I dont know.. Thanks in advance.

If changing your oil makes the 'rattle' go away...... you'd better unload the car ASAP......

Since you don't mention WHERE in the car the noise seems to come from, it's a bit difficult to diagnose, specifics would help. All I can gather is that on light throttle or deceleration you get a noise, that leaves a broad spectrum of sources.

It sounds like you're low on oil.

Mine ate a bunch of oil the first time I switched to Royal Purple. I got the noise and it had about 2 quarts left.

Anyway, I switched to mobil1. I need to check it again, but I think it's good.

Regardless, I haven't heard any noise since. It's been quite some time. I have about 22k on my '05.
