How to make my G35MT quick????
How to make my G35MT quick????
Hey, I'm a new-b as you all refer to it haha and I have a 05 G coupe. My car is stock and I was thinking of doing some non-turbo mods to make my car quicker. Maybe wit intake, headers and so on but I don't know what to do first. And I don't know which brands would b better for my car. I can't decide whether i want cold air or short ram because it rains here quite often.....so I was wondering what the chances of water getting sucked in are. I'm not sure if I want to get a new exhaust though because i love the way the g35/350z exhausts sound. I dont want anything as loud as the greddy exhausts. If i were to change my exhaust i'd like to keep it similar to the stock exhaust sound. I was told by someone that the borla exhaust is good for g35's and they aren't that loud either.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?

what year g you got?
intake wont really do much for you..
headers + high flow cats or test pipes + full exhaust
new plenum or plenum spacer
the mods are endless
please use the **search** function
btw if you want close to stock exhaust go with fujitsubo legalis r
and since it rains there stay away from cold air intakes

if i had to do it all over again...just performance wise
1-light weight flywheel / clutch (JWT)
2-mRev
3-Apecs airfilter (forget about the KnN and Z-tube, cuz it sucks compared to)
4-pulleys
5-High flow Cats
6-grounding kit

You could mount a couple of JATOS on it.
Would definately make it faster.

headers and test pipes........or a turbo.........if you dont want to do either of those then jst stay stock cause most bolt ons dont give you the power you want or expecting
NA mods suck compared to the $/HP ratio that FI can offer, but there are some NA mods that offer some gains in power and changes in character.
Since you're looking at non-turbo mods, consider just the basic intake/exhaust mods... ...but know that the G is fairly specific about what it likes and doesn't.
INTAKE SIDE:
Filter - The cold-air intakes aren't doing much, aside from the one that's most like the stock airbox, which is Stillen. If you want to save money, just use a high-flow drop-in filter in your stock box. Stillen produces more HP. Consider the difference in cost as well and consider your best option. JWT makes an open-element cone-filter (K&N type) that is one of the few others to consider.
Z-tube or equivalent - Not much money, it makes for a nice, sporty growl, and it will better compliment the following mods. The OEM 350Z tube does the trick and looks OEM, but there are other options available.
MREV - Not sure of the specific model for your application, but the MREV is going to provide you with the biggest gain per dollar (NA) and make that Z-tube really growl. Nice!
EXHAUST SIDE:
High-Flow Cats - Best gains from an exhaust mod. I've been happy with the Crawford cats. More volume as well, but not loud.
Headers/Exhaust - I put these together as you could really pick between the two and get similar gains. Cost and labor will differ, as will volume. Coated headers (and you will coat them
) aren't as loud as most exhausts, even with cats. Decide what's important to you and what you want to spend and make a choice here... ...or go for both.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT
Reflash ECU - If you do more than the Cats or exhaust on the exhaust side, along with the filter/Z-tube/MREV on the intake side, you might consider a simple, cost-effective reflash.
