i've heard if you do your own oil change and if anything is wrong with your engine the warranty won't be effective if they ask for proof of your oil changes.

are you serious? A DIY oil change? I'm LMAO right now......................

1. Remove plastic shield under car, this is actually the PITA part as there's 10 million bolts that fasten it.

2. Remove drain plug and drain oil

3. Install drain plug, preferrably with a new crush washer

4. Remove oil filter

5. Pour a small amount of new oil into your new oil filter and lubricate filter gasket with new oil

6. Install new filter, only need to get it hand tight.

7. Remove oil filler cap and add 5 qts of premium oil, I prefer Mobil 1

8. Start vehicle and check for leaks.

9. If no leaks present then reinstall plastic shield underneath car.

10. Pull head out of *** as my 90 year old grandma can do this.

Do it yooself................

Sooopa G that's a good post with the exception of
changing the crush washer.....I just finished my
4th oil change and have never changed that washer.
No, it don't drip a drop. If, while changing oil I
notice the plug being wet (oil) then I'll swap in a
new crush washer.

I'm picky so I always do it myself but if I was going to have it done somewhere it would definitely be a good local Nissan/Infiniti dealer for maybe a few bucks more. Jiffy Lube couldn't pay me to go there and have my oil done.

The write-up linked above is good...the pictures are nice and clear and it's very thorough.

Don't take to Jiffy Lube especially in LA. Those bizznatches recommend BS fixes for the money and scam you.

That's total bullcrap. It's obvious when oil changes aren't done regularly as the oil will look like sludge. Keep a written record in that service booklet in your owner's kit and hold onto your most recent receipts for filters and oil. A dealership can't blackmail you into taking your car there for oil changes when the procedure is described and drawn out in the owner's manual.
