The thread that you linked us to has no replies and is just showing us a review of the new G35.

C&D mag. wrotes "Why on earth would one buy a IS350?" over new G35

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Car&Driver editor Mark Gillies wrotes on this month issue.

"Why on earth would one buy a Lexus IS350? The Lexus isn't appreciably quicker, doesn't look as good, and is a fairly anodyne driving experience, whereas the G35 is a very soulful machine. The Lexus has a more beautifully wrought interior than the G35's (much improved) cabin, but that's about its ONLY advantage. In short, Infiniti does a much better job of being the Japanese luxury brand that makes cars we WANT TO drive."

One more point. The new G35 starts low $30K, not over $36K like IS350, and comes with every standard features that IS350 offers.

I guess they have different taste than us. Being the the aftermarket business it seems that my customers from many different cars are campletely different people. The hardest people to deal with are the young Scion tC owners.

There are quite a few replies there now.

Pretty straightforward statements by C&D editor and one very few knowledgable objective people would be able to argue.

Folks on the Lexus forum don't like it but I didn't see any really informed, well founded arguments to the contrary.

Hmmm, the IS350 does have leather standard.

So would you rather HIDs standard or a moonroof? You should realize its a lot harder to put in a moonroof, than it is to put in HIDs.
Thats my favorite reply....

It's HARDER to put in a moonroof then HIDs... what a statement hahahaha

different peoples has different opinions and tastes, that's why there a lot of different cars available to choose from.
Infiniti owners also talked craps about other makes.
i wouldn't let that bother me

TURBOTOM Sep 2, 2006 01:10 PM

there prob gonna start a thread, sayin that G35's are hatin on Is's

Finiti35 Sep 2, 2006 01:11 PM

Sorry, I don't acknowledge opinions coming from people to whom the G is an "Infinity" and the Z is a "Z350". Goes to show how much they know about Nissan. To me the best way to look at it is a Lexus is the japanese Benz, Infiniti is the japanese BMW in regards to price, interior, soulfulness, etc. The '07 sedan spanks up the IS350... the IS500 will be a different story, but likely well over 50 grand.

black6mt06 Sep 2, 2006 03:38 PM

You know, I've always felt a certain friendly competition with IS owners. Didn't know they were so hostile towards us. Geesh.

SeZkI Sep 2, 2006 03:51 PM

I dont think you can compare the is350 over g35 sedan, id take the is350 hands down over it because it does look MUCHH nicer. But g35 coupe vs is300 hah thats a joke id take my G its so much sezkkiier. :D

phishman Sep 2, 2006 04:55 PM

When I think of Lexus I think of old men and soccer moms. The fact that you cant get a manual transmission in the is350 says it all.

Whoever said they are more like a Japanese Mercedes than a *** BMW nailed it on the head. Of course, I would also take a WRX Sti over a Benz. If I want to go over 200 mph, sit in plush leather, and not even be able to feel how fast I'm going I'll book first class on Delta.

Not that they're ugly cars though, just nowhere near "sporty."

booger Sep 2, 2006 05:08 PM

Lexus and Infiniti play opposit ends of the luxury sports sedan market . Lexus will always be hard to beat in the quallity of thier cars . Infiniti has taken the sporty side of the market .
