Newbie here

Well, I did it. I got a G35. After many weeks of debating, I finally got it this past friday. I traded in my '01 SS camaro. I really loved the camaro....I really hated the camaro. It was a tough decesion, because I really had a love/hate relationship with it. That car had awesome power and was a torque monster. I loved the agressive look with the ram air, the V8 rumble. But I hated the "fit, form, and function". The car was a daily driver and those little annoyance got real old real fast. I've only had the G35 for 2 days now, and I really like it. I love the build quality, decent power, and awesome handling.

Re: Newbie here

cool, thanks. I remember I was a Newbie at LS1.com. The one question I have it this: The car was equipped with Sirius satellite radio and 2 free months of service. If I decided to go with XM radio could I still use this sirius hardware? Or do have to buy new equipment for XM? I figure satellite radio hardware is the same.

Congratulations! That sure is one Black beauty! I can understand your mixed emotions about your Camaro. It's tough giving up something that you really enjoyed. Hopefully your new coupe will let you overcome those emotions, and provide you with a "new" pride of ownership. To answer your SAT question, go to the Audio/Video/SAT forum and do a "search." Or, just simply make a new post. Enjoy your baby!

Re: Newbie here

My coupe came with Sirius also, and I like it a lot. The 2 free months only includes certain channels though. If you want to activate it, they'll need the radio number, which you can get by changing to station 000. I have no idea if you can use the same hardware for XM, but if I had to guess, I'd say probably not. Seems like a shame to swap out a $400 option just to go with XM.

Let's see the picks with the tint! If you haven't already done so, don't forget to post your G in the "rides" forum!

Almost forgot. It reached 100.3 degrees, in the shade, on my patio today.

Daniel _G

Congrats on the new G35! I just ordered mine 3 weeks ago, so I'll probably have to wait until December before getting it.

Your pictures are great. Gotta love the black G. When I was looking at your interior, was that the cloth interior? If it was, it looks better than I thought it would. Let me know. Thanks

Re: Newbie here

Unfortunately, you can't get XM service with the Sirius unit. What I suggest you do is swap out your reciever and antenna with that of an XM system (Grubbs has them for under $300 - http://www.infinitiwholesaleparts.com/en_US/) and then place your Sirius system up on eBay. I'm sure you can get close to if not all of what it would cost for you to get an XM unit.

Good luck and welcome to the club.....

Re: Newbie here

Thanks for the link! I'm not really sure if I want XM or Sirius, I just wanted to keep my options open. What do most people prefer? looking at the channel lineup of both, they seem pretty much the same. By the way, I like your black grill...that looks awesome!

Re: Newbie here

Just a quick reminder, XM only has a handful of channels that are commercial free. Sirius has zero commercials. I told why I have XM, just for that one channel. If SAT is not important to you, you don't have to activate it. But it's a nice luxury to have. Since you're equipped with Sirius, look it over and see if it's really what you want.
