My G had a conflict with tow truck.

Hey guys, I had to call Infiniti Road Side for a tow a few weeks ago. Well when the tow guy came he had a pick-up truck with a trailor. As the tow guy was loading the G he managed to make the cars front bumper come in contact with the trailor and the TOW CABLE!!! Such an AZZ!!! The tow cable scraped a 1/2 inch mark down to the black plastic and the contact with his diamond palte trailor put a bunch more scratches on the bottom side of the bumper. I put a claim in with his insurance. I went to the Infiniti dealer to get an estimate and they told me it was about $710 to fix/paint the front bumper. The insurance estimator estimated the cost to be over $900. I am confident that the tow companies insurance is going to cover this. I am curious to know how they issue the check? Is it possible that they give me a check and I could buy an aftermarket bumper and get that painted? Interesed to know what you guys/ gals think.

That happened to me with my 94 Z a couple of years of ago. That sux dude. Whether or not the tow companies insurance company will cover the damage, the tow company is responsible to fix it no matter what. When it comes to aftermarket body parts, I know it is posible with regular insurance settlements, but with something like this I would say it's doubtfull unless you can convince them that it will be cheaper for them if they do it your way.

I have been dealing with the tow companies insurance not the tow company directly. It has been my understanding that the insurance will either choose a place to get the work done or issue me a check to pay for the work I need done.

I believe you can either get it done and they will pay the bodyshop, or they will issue like 75% of the estimated cost...they wont cut you a check for 100% of it...have to talk to the agent about it.

Good to know. I wil give the agent a call to see exactly how things work out. I surely won't be telling them I am looking into an aftermarket bumper. The stock bumper could easily be repaired.
