You need to work on your logic and go back to school.
Alot of artist/painters are worth that much because of: 1)the amount of work they put into to create such an idea, 2) reflects their life, and 3)REPUTATION.

Don't compare things thats not even comparable.

Personally I'd rather take 10 grand and go FI
I have alpine dva-9860 for head unit I just didn't want 2 screens in a car, alpine radio/dvd have incredible audio and video output

i just switched out my old IVA-D300 for a 310... the 9860 is alright, but dude... they put those in civics and ****... if you wanna have ur ride pimped out and looks mean and hell, especially with alpine equipment which we all know is rather pricey $1300 for the headunit alone, go for the nice equipment so the install looks clean... if you wanted an interior like that i could've gotten the same thing for around $1000, $1500 to have a double stitched actual high quality material, its literally price winning type stuff.... granted its a good hook up and the guy knows me well but still... its all about finding connects to do your work for you... If your gonna do something do it right...

take it to a different shop and see what you get quoted... i got all my stuff done at al and eds in brea with certified installers and their price quote was cheaper then most mom and pop shops and they're quality is excellent... trust me dude... just find the right place to have ur work done for u... my 05 was one of the first 05's to have a double din done to it... when i got my HU in there was no double din conversion and no after-market a/c controller (jan 05) i had to order my a/c controller from japan.. took 2 months to get it in and the dash had to be custom molded and fit and then custom sprayed... and i only paid $1650 for it head unit included...

man, you guys are pretty harsh...

i will lay down my two cents:

1. the overall execution of the install is acutally pretty good, the suede, the door pods, etc...all are done technically well, i am not sure if stiching is the way to go, but given the technique, it really came out well...

2. the design part, i think, the part that most people didnt like. i always say there is a fine line between creativity and bad taste, and often, i acutally see a lot of installs, where its really well done, but just doesnt seem to capture the audience's approval...

3. i acutally do agree with the people that said, as long as you like it, its all good. but that also means dont try so hard to attack others who dont like it. you should say, who cares if no one else likes it, as long as I do, then i am fine with it.

4. 10k, given the amount of work done and the equipment, is not unfair. again, i think people are saying wether or not the total design look is worth the price, not the equipment and work done

good luck

b
